Wii ZUMBA vs. ZUMBA Dvds

Options
Have you tried one? Both? Which one is better? Is one easier than the other? REAL classes are not an option. Not yet, anyway. I want to see what this whole "Zumba" craze is all about. The Wii version and the DVDS are the only options available right now, and I can't invest in both.

Thanks!

I have DVDs and I love them, they're lots of fun. I have the Total Body Transformation set which has an introductory workout to take you through all the steps, then other workouts of different lengths which is convenient.

Haven't tried Wii, so I can't comment on that, but the DVDs are fun and give you a good workout.

I got it for the Wii -- which is the best since it's the cheapest choice for me right now. Doing it tonight. If I like it enough I plan on buying the DVD's but I just can't afford $100 right now. I've heard mixed comments on both. Half like the Wii, half like the DVD but I've never heard anything but good things about it in general!

i have only use the DVDs... and i love them. I just rewind something over and over if i don't get the steps.

I've been curious with the wii and kinect versions. I imagine it would help that u have to hit certain points/steps properly for the game to register that you did it properly? (is that right?) That could be the difference.
Also the competition to get a good score might be a fun factor with the game (is there a scoring system on there?)

I have ONLY tried on the Wii, and it was ok...I am pretty good at following dance instruction, and they don't seem to give you much time to learn the step. It does work you out amazingly well, once you repeat the moves over and over again on your own. No matter what, it is fun!

If you want to try it out without investing in either for now you can always check out the videos on youtube and try to follow along. You can find the beginning instructional one on youtube.

I personally like the live class much more than the DVD's or the Wii version. The only thing with the classes is that there is no beginning really you just have to try to keep up. It's confusing at first but after a couple of classes it gets easier.

The wii is a good way to invest a small amount of $$, its cool!! The DVDS are good but i get bored after a while i got mine in Jan. If you ever do get a chance to do the class, go for it, i like real people better...

Just a thought check with your county or city for classes at a rec. center Our county was doing them and i didnt even know it. They charged 25 for 5 weeks. If you go to the zumba website it'll tell you classes in your area and see if any are by parks and rec or stuff like that, where you dont have to sign a contract or join..

youtube before you buy it. or just youtube rather. There are TONS of videos on there you can dance to on there rather than buying the dvd's....

I have the Wii version. Seems that all you have to do is "jiggle" just right for it to say you're doing the steps correctly. 'cuz I KNOW I wasn't doing them right, but it kept me in green anyway. I haven't tried the DVD's. It is fun, even though I didn't feel like I was being scored properly, and is a great workout.

The wii version is better because it can tell you when you're doing something wrong, DVDs cannot, and while you can fool the will by just jiggling, you're only really fooling yourself, at least it's providing feedback because you can just sit there and watch work out dvds and they till think you're doing it right.

I've tried Wii Zumba and its just "ok" and then I tried just a regular Zumba DVD and it was just "ok" The best way to experience Zumba is to do it at the Gym with a class and a real instructor! Its so much more fun!

I have heard really great things about the DVDs and really poor things about the Wii & Kinect.

I couldn't afford either so I went on youtube and made a playlist of zumba routines. There are so many instructors posting their routines on there. This ensures that I like the music & and feel comfortable with the routine (not too fast, too slow, etc). I have three different "classes" of videos that have about 17-20 songs in each. I hook my computer to the big tv downstairs with a 15-prong cord and just do it like that. For the longest time I just did it following on my laptop (until my brother gifted me with a cord... I do like the tv better). Anyway, if you are like me and don't have the funds or do not want to shell out the funds but still want to enjoy zumba from home then you can do the youtube thing.

Just a few of the youtube zumba instructor users I like. There are many many more.
