Hi!
I’m going on holiday for the next 4 days with a friend. Any tips on keeping to my daily calorie limit while on holiday in a new city? There are new food places I want to try while I’m there so I want to be able to enjoy my time and the food I eat while I’m there but at the same time don’t want to over eat. Any tips?

There are lots of amazingly healthy options at even the finest restaurants. In fact, due to the portion size some of the finer restaurants actually give you much less in quantity (which they make up for in quality).

I recently went on a tropical vacation (holiday) for 9 days with my husband. We ate a lot of fresh fish, local fruit and vegetable dishes. One incredible meal we ordered and split everything - an appetizer, the main course and dessert. The waiter told us lots of people do that and didn't make us feel cheap or even charge us anything for the extra plate (which is a stupid trend in many US restaurants). It was delicious, we were full enough and nothing left to carry out.

You can have a wonderful time without breaking the calorie bank. Think tapas, splitting a meal, or just choosing menu items that you know are a bit lighter in calories.

Depending on where you go, walking everywhere is a great idea. Burns those extra calories for you. I wouldn't deny myself anything while on vacation, especially if there are eateries or foods you want to try. Even if you gain a lb or two you'll get back on track when you are back home. I'm not a staunch believer in sticky to calories while on vacation. Enjoy yourself. If you are a stickler then keep mfp on your phone and log everything as much as possible.

Personally, I really like intermittent fasting and don't find it hard to skip meals when I know a big one is coming.

If I have a special dinner to attend, I'll usually skip breakfast and just have a couple small snacks throughout the day, then I can eat whatever the heck I want at the dinner.

Obviously if that doesn't work for you, you can just eat at a higher calorie goal (or maintenance) over your holiday and get back to your deficit when you return.
