I have been on a very bland diet for years , with no meat or fruits. My body has trouble with digesting food. Needing some pointers on which foods are healthy yet my body can adjust to them without them making me sick. I am having problems making it to 1000 calories a day.

you would be better to get a referral from your doctor to a dietician - they are few and far between on these boards

Ask your physician for a referral to a dietician.

If you have insurance, check into if it will cover a registered dietitian. Mine does for a limited number of visits a year.

I have on numerous occasions, and they say they do not do that. I have tried for years with multiple dr’s and they all say the same thing. Their advice is to look up recipes , but none seem to work.

They don't do what exactly? Who put you on the no fruit, no meat diet?

then they are lying to you...or you could google RD's in your area and call them asking what you need in order to be seen

digesting food could be a physical problem, it could be a mental problem...

The drs . They will not make a referral to a dietitian. Also no one put me on that diet . My body just seems to reject the meat , and acidic foods like most fruits.

What do the doctors say about your diet? What advice do they give? Are these specialists or PCP?

What do you mean, "my body rejects" certain foods?

I don't think you need to have meat or fruit if you don't want to. Eat more fats and more grains and vegetables. Fruit isn't a necessity. You do need protein. What happens when you eat yogurt or cheese? They are very calorie dense. How about nuts?

It sounds like you need to see a GI specialist rather than a dietician. If you are having trouble with that many foods you need to get a diagnosis before seeking diet advice. IDK what country you are in or what type of insurance you have but you should try your best to get in to see a gastroenterologist.

Again, if you have insurance, search through your insurance provider website for a registered dietitian. It could be covered and beneficial to your journey.

Hey, my Dr doesn't do the whole referral thing either BUT my health insurance company has a dietician on call. It's just standard ole' Unite Health Care but Molina did too. Not many people know that. I think it's their way of trying to lower costs for themselves in the future, you know?

ETA: you can just call into the general customer service number and ask about it from any rep. If they have that, they'll set up a time for the dietician to call you. If they don't, they'll offer other options.

Thanks for taking your time and reading the post everyone. I will take the advice of just finding a dietitian on my own and see where it goes from there. Thanks again

I really encourage you to seek a gastroenterologist first. A dietician is unlikely to know what you need to eat without first knowing what is wrong with you.
