It's an essential amino acid, not made by animals (we get it from plants and bacteria).
So we need it as a building block for protein. There are structural proteins, (muscles, bones, cell walls etc) and functional proteins (hormones, digestive enzymes and antibodies).0 -
helps fight cold sore outbreaks0

It's most commonly used for sores, canker, in the mouth. Makes them heal very fast.0

L-Lysine is a necessary building block for all protein in the body. L-Lysine plays a major role in calcium absorption; building muscle protein; recovering from surgery or sports injuries; and the body's production of hormones, enzymes, and antibodies.0

I take it to fend off cold sores. If I feel one starting to tingle, I'll really load up a few times a day for 2-3 days. It usually never surfaces. My grandma takes 1/2 a pill everyday as a preventative.0

Why do people take it for diet and working out0

I have a friend who takes it to keep cold sores at bay as well as prevent armpit cysts which them cause her lymph nodes to swell and ache. I also feed it to my dog as part of his daily regime to keep his immune in good shape so he can battle all the germs at daycare with relative ease.0

We take it after working out because it helps build (rebuild) muscles.0
