I have been skulking for a while and I have been a member for a couple years or so, not that I have been dedicated or anything.

I am just under 300 lbs. I have type 2 diabetes and am insulin dependent. I have a husband whom I love and three beautiful young children.

I hate the way I feel in my own body. I constantly worry that I will die in my early forties and not see my children become adults.

I started going to the gym with a friend last week. I pushed so hard I could barely move for a couple of days. I took a week off and went back this morning. I feel good right now but I know the feeling won't last. I get unmotivated easily.

Anyway, HI!

You made a start now you just have to keep going! Maybe start off doing less and build to more so you don't overdo it. Better to do 20 mins a day walking even rather than a one off at the gym.

    All the best!

Weight loss primarily happens in the kitchen, so don't go pushing yourself too hard in the gym, focus on your calorie intake. Think of it as food control for weight loss and exercise for health. In terms of exercise start off with some low-impact cardio (will be easier on the joints) and maybe some form of strength training to help retain muscle (Weights, resistance bands, bodyweight exercises), you can be doing more harm than good trying to push yourself too hard at your current weight and with 3 kids, I can't imagine you can afford to be out of action.

    They're right ^^

Just eat less of the foods you already eat, make it fit your calories. Don't rule any foods out unless you have zero control with them.

Start slowly with the exercise, a walk in the park whilst the kids play is a great start.

    Best of luck

Calorie deficits cause weight loss, but have you discussed this with your family doctor/endocrinologist and have they referred you to a dietician?

Hi there, I started this...yet again and so far I'm on a roll. A month ago I was at the 300 mark and I'm currently down 25lbs. I've done this so many times that I'm not that excited. I really want to keep going and get below the 200 mark by spring. I am not 100% on track every day, but I do find that keeping track keeps me accountable to myself. I'm attempting to keep track of foods and add activity. Currently in Southern California for the winter months at a resort that offers aqua size and line dancing, so I'll do these as much as I can and am grateful for the extra calories they allow me.
