How can I curb cravings and stop binge eating

Growing up I went hungry constantly. When I had the chance to eat, I are as much as my stomach would hold. That mentality has shared my eating habits to this day. Does anyone have any tips on how to stop yourself from binge eating.? I have to get this under control to better my health.

Drink water. I know it sounds simple but trust me it works, just drink water everytime you crave food.

I agree with both responses. Therapy will help in the long term, and short term, drink a ton of water and that will give you the full feeling that you’re looking for.

Tips aren't going to do anything. It's an overpowering compulsion. You'll need some professional help to figure out how to overcome it.

You have to work on the root of the problem. I don't want to presume to diagnose you, but it could have something to do with your feelings around being hungry or the idea that there might not be more food so you have to eat it all while you have the chance.

A professional (which I'm certainly not) should be able to help you figure it out. I truly wish you all the best.

Seek professional help. You'll probably need that for a long term solution. In the short term, volume eating will likely help a little. I'm a volume eater. I need a full plate to feel satisfied, I need to feel a little uncomfortably full. I eat a very light breakfast (0-200 cals), a medium lunch (500-600 cals) and a HUGE dinner. Knowing the big dinner is coming keeps me in check. It also helps to realllly fill up on veggies. Even though my lunches are 'only 500 calories," I usually fill a plate with spinach before adding my other lunch foods. 100 g of spinach is 23 calories but FILLS a plate. I do the same with broccoli for dinner. I'll have a fake meat protein (500 calories), some sauces/cheese (100-200 calories) and then finish out my calories with broccoli (300 grams is a lot and only 100 cals). I will often eat a pound of broccoli at a time.

Depending what type of foods you are craving also can shed some insight as to what type of imbalances you may or may not have. If you have metabolic damage you need to correct that problem first. Get in touch with an experienced dietician who can guide you through some investigative work. Until then, do research on carb cycling and nutritional timing, it may give you some relief and compliment your fitness regime.
