I get it... I'm a T1 Diabetic and despite having great numbers and knowing a lot about nutrition, the weight doesn't come off very easily.

    Hang it there!

I'm right there with ya! Its taken me a long time, but I know what works for me. It's coming off slowly but surely and I feel better every day. I hope you're there soon.

Please don't be so hard on yourself : )

Don't feel bad about the band not working out for you! About 80% of people who get gastric surgery, put it all back on, and nearly 50% of lap band patients have similar complications to the ones you describe. Hang in there!

I've been "dieting" on and off since high school, so I know what you mean! I lost about 50lbs on Weight watchers, but put 30 back on. I lost 70lbs on Medifast, but put 50 of it back on...

What I found was that I needed a MAINTAINABLE LIFESTYLE. Medifast and Weight Watchers didn't make any sense to me as being "maintainable". Sure, Medifast works to lose the weight, but it was so strict that I found my old habits coming back once the weight was off. Weight Watchers? Well, I'd rather count real nutritional information than try to calculate points. It makes more sense to focus on good eating than to focus on packaged stuff already marked with "points" due to the fact that I hate complicated math. lol

MY MOTHER WAS A NURTITIONIST, yet my brother, my father, and I are all overweight. (Mom didn't do a lot of the cooking.)

So it's not about what you know, it's about a maintainable lifestyle.

For me, I've found that I can't rely on the scale as the ultimate measure of my health or how I'm doing. I need to rely on other things - how I'm feeling emotionally and how I'm dealing with those emotions, how I'm feeling/looking in my clothing, what the tape measure says once a month. Sure, I get on the scale, but I've learned to take it with a grain of salt, rather than allow a simple number to dictate my day. August 17th is my next measurement day. Time to get running!

Ok here comes a litle tough love.
You said you've dieted and lost weight but you always gain it back.
The answer IS simple...stop dieting and make a lifestyle change.

Diets don't work because while on a diet you are controlling your intake. But off the diet you go back to your old habits ... The same ones that caused your issue.

So stop dieting and make a sustainable lifestyle change eating healthy with regular exercise.

I don't think that is tough love, I think it's the truth.
