How do you know is too much?

I am not very well informed when it comes to exercising. To me, sweating was too much, so Pilates was enough. Running has never been my thing. Now I am doing Nike Training Club on my iPod and it makes me work a lot. I am obviously out of shape, so at some point during the exercise I feel my heart racing and I am sweating from places I didn't even know I have. How do I know if I am exercising too hard? Is that even possible? Is that good or bad? When should I slow down? I am 5'6'', 134.4 lbs and 29 years old female.

You will sweat and your heart will beat fast. If you feel really lightheaded, nauseous, or pain, then back off, take a break, or call it a day.0

That all sounds about right. LOL. I for one HATE getting hot and sweating. I avoided it like the plague, which is hard to do here in Alabama! But the past three weeks, I sucked it up and started pushing myself. My face turns absolute BEET RED for about 20 minutes after I finish, and I breathe hard and feel sweaty and sticky and I hate it, but when you begin to feel stronger, and you notice your clothes becoming looser, you'll get over it QUICK! I did. Everything you described sounds normal, just make sure you're getting enough water before, during, and after your workouts. If you ever start feeling nauseous, or cold in the middle of your workout, that is a warning sign. Also, try to pace yourself. Start off working out maybe about 30 minutes a day, or maybe even every other day, until you become more used to the changes.0

If you have access to a swimming pool, that's the BEST! You can get your heart pumping and burn calories without feeling sweaty and gross. And there's no impact!0

I love to sweat so I really can't understand why you wouldn't want to. Nothing quite like soaking through your clothes, it shows you that your work is paying off. As long as you put the water back in that you sweat out, you don't lose just water weight, you lose the fat...
But yeah, if you start feeling light headed, or dizzy, take a break and walk for a bit. If it keeps up, talk to your Dr. Better safe than sorry in today's world.0 -

Thank you for the advice. I guess because I liked being comfortable, or girly or just not liking the sticky feeling....I work out every other day for 30 min with sweat and burn, and the other days I do some Yoga or Pilates. So far I have not felt light headed or nauseated, and I do drink a lot of water. Is there a way to monitor my heartbeats and know when to stop by the number?0
