Looking for inspiration. Probably want to make 2/3 different things (I do not like alcohol or Peppermint stuff).

When I think Christmas, I think cookies. Peanut Butter Blossoms are my very favorite. Snickerdoodles a close second. Was never into sugar/iced cookies.

Cheesecake is my ultimate favorite dessert year round.

I'll definitely make cookies and a cheesecake (thinking caramel with a pecan flavored crust). Maybe a tiramisu Yule log. Just need something else, lol.

I have fussy folk this year, one is no chocolate, one is no fruit aside from citrus, so I'm making a lemon meringue trifle :)

    All of them :/

Except maybe Russian teacakes. I've been pretending I didn't hate them may whole life, because they are my Moms favorites and she makes them every year, lol

I'm thinking trifle but I refuse to use pudding mix and store cake so it always takes much longer to make, lol.

My favorite is the molten chocolate lava cake my aunt makes. Last year though, she added peppermint to it and candy cane pieces on the outside which I hated (I hate mint + chocolate) but everyone raved about it.

Am i the only one who doesn't like snickerdoodles? lol
I also don't like those squares people make that kinda taste like peanut butter with the mini colored marshmallows in them..

    However... chocolate macaroons..

This is pure happiness to me lol

Lol, we all have our thing. My kids don't eat baked foods unless it's cookies that don't have nuts in them.

I am going to make a real New York style Cheesecake, the real thing with a nice chocolate topping.
Also going to bake, my mom's request, a Napoleon Cake.

I love Napoloeons but I'm not sure they would like it... it's very French, lol. It's a shame that it's so hard to find the real thing around here (that uses pastry cream and not whipped cream). I do need to figure out how to make the classic iced sugar topping though... so good. I've done puff pastry from scratch but never cooked it as layers, so it would be an interesting challenge.

Oh yeah and it needs to be something that can be done the day before too. I'm thinking the log for the first event and the caramel pecan cheesecake for the second... just would like something else with it. Decisions, decisions.

    Christmas = cookies for me.

I love a good snickerdoodle... chewy and soft, gosh... the stuff dreams are made of eh?

I recently found a good recipe for Oatmeal Raisin Chocolate Chip Cookies that are quasi-healthy... whole wheat flour, limited sugar, rolled oats... definitely go to the low side of the cook time if you want chewy and soft cookies... https://amyshealthybaking.com/blog/2014/11/30/the-ultimate-healthy-soft-chewy-oatmeal-raisin-cookies/

Pecan pie with whipped cream! Yum! Or you can make the same filling but so them as little individual tarts!

The last few years I have made a sweet mincemeat instead of lemon meringue pie - its seriously yummy
I also do a lovely almond and plum tart, its light and so moist and delicious too https://www.itv.com/lorraine/food/james-tanners-plum-frangipane-tart
This year I am thinking as well as the above I will also make a tirimasu - I use a Gordon Ramsey recipe for that and its fab :smiley:http://gordonramsaysbollocks.tumblr.com/post/11289273241/gordon-ramsays-quick-tiramisu-recipe-ingredients

We have what we just call Christmas dessert. Heavy cream, powdered sugar, pineapple chunks, marshmallows, and shaved pecans. And it must be chilled outside (I'm in Ohio and it's usually cold enough for this).

mixed berry crumble with vanilla ice-cream.

I would do something with fruit to add variety to the log and cheesecake.
