Is anyone else having really discounted produce right now? I'm in Seattle, and I just got 6 organic cucumbers at a corperate grocer for what 1 conventional cuke cost a month ago. I've never seen such a price difference. Just wondering what caused the excess and if anybody else is seeing this.

    Maybe holiday season sales?

I'm in Ohio and haven't noticed a downward trend in prices other than on the items used to make "traditional" holiday meals. (Using quotation marks because the ingredients generally are for Midwestern US traditional meals as opposed to what is traditional for folks from other areas.)

Just picked up a variety of veggies on sale at HUGE discounts.

    At a Latino market
    3# Roma tomatoes for $1
    5# yellow onions for $1
    20 limes for $1

    At a Filipino market:
2 bunches of spinach for $1
    2# bitter melon for $1

    At Smart & Final
medium avocados for 25 cents each

Just finished the spinach but still working on the rest.

No, that's not true where I live for fresh produce other than cold hardy greens.

Not true in Edmonton, Canada either. Apples were so expensive the other day I joked they must be gold plated ($4 a pound if I remember right).
