My goal is to reach 10% body fat by year end... actually by 12/30 because that is when my Dexa is scheduled. I'm going to list weight and BF% based on my scale, which is going to fluctuate at times as diet changes. On some days - and I know when those are based on diet - it will be inaccurate.

    Round 22:
    Day - Weight - BF% - Comment
    11/9 - 149.6 lbs. - 16.8% - scale is reading higher than actual BF%

11/10 - 148.4 lbs. - 15.9% - scale is still higher than actual BF%, but getting closer to actual

    11/11 - 147.2 lbs. - 16.9% - scale is higher than actual BF%, this time not expected

11/12 - 148.6 - 16.8% - scale is still showing higher than actual BF%, still not entirely expected. I have a theory as to what is driving the incorrectly high BF%.

11/13 - 148.6 lbs. - 18.5% - Yesterday was a re-feed / glycogen replenishment day. I'm surprised weight did not also increase, but expected BF% to be unreliable. I expect it to remain that way for the next 2-3 days.

11/14 - 147.2 lbs. - 16.4% - Depending on whether I eat a lot of fibrous green vegetables today, BF% will either stay pretty stable by tomorrow morning or will decrease. I may find it hard to feel full without lettuce or green beans... but since scale BF% is just artificially high if I eat them and real BF% is not truly much different, I'm probably going to eat greens if I'm hungry anyway.

    11/15 - 146.4 - 15.6% - No veg yesterday, scale is closer to a correct BF%.

11/16 - 146.2 lbs. - 14.9% - No veg yesterday again, and BF% is almost right where I would expect Dexa to come up. The idea that eating low carb green / fibrous veggies would affect the scale BF% so much is a relatively new revelation. Thinking back, the last Dexa was 0.3% lower than the scale on that same day (that is extremely close); and my scale is ALWAYS higher than any other measurement method or device - including other bio-electric impedance devices, which are always super low. When that last Dexa was taken and it was almost the same as the scale, I had not eaten plants for 45 days prior (except coffee, tea, and small quantities of seasonings and sauces). I still plan to eat some low carb (net carb) fibrous veggies while I continue to strive for 10% BF by 12/30, but will do take breaks occasionally to get a better idea of where Dexa will come in.

11/17 - 147.8 lbs. - 13.9% - Slight weight increase, not sure why... probably water weight. Another day without veg and BF% is spot on as close as I'm going to get to being real. Tomorrow is going to be high again based on today's planned diet.

11/18- 146.0 lbs. - 15.4% - Did not expect weight to decrease, but expected reported BF% to rise.

    Round 23:
    Day - Weight - BF% - Comment
    11/19 - 145.8 lbs. - 13.5% - Did not expect BF% to drop this much this fast.

11/20 - 147.6 lbs. - 16.2% - Both increases were expected based on yesterday's food plan. Should see decrease over the next few days until Fri. morning, which will go back up again.

    11/21 - 147.0 lbs. - 15.7% - Expected a small decrease. Expect another small decrease tomorrow.

    11/22 - 146.6 lbs. - 15.3%

    11/23 - 145.6 lbs. - 14.8% - Will be higher tomorrow.

11/24 - 147.2 lbs. - 14.4% - Did not expect BF to decrease, but maybe that is delayed...

    11/25 - 145.8 lbs. - 15.2% - There is the delayed fat storage.

11/26 - 145.2 lbs. - 15.7% - Did not expect another rise in BF%, but I can only assume it is continued delayed fat build. Tomorrow will be higher probably of both weight and BF.

    11/27 - 146.4 lbs. - 17.0% - Increases expected.

11/28 - 150.4 lbs. - 14.6% - Had a spontaneous free meal yesterday and paying for it with weight gain - meal itself was probably around 4-5 lbs., including water in food... so this is about right.

    Round 24:
11/29 - 149.4 lbs. - 14.9% - For this round, I'm going to make a few changes. I'm not sure exactly what to expect at the beginning, but should have lower BF% by the end of the 10 days.

    11/30 - 146.2 lbs. - 14.9%

    12/1 - 144.4 lbs. - 14.7%

12/2 - 144.8 lbs. - 13.3% - I'm thinking this is about right again for BF%, but let's see if that holds for the next few days without changes that affect the scale calculation.

12/3 - 142.2 lbs. - 16.1% - BF definitely reading too high, but not sure why this time.

12/4 - 143.2 lbs. - 16.2% - Definitely unexpected BF... consistent with yesterday, but still incorrectly high. Unsure why.

12/5 - 140.4 lbs. - 14.9% - Some time in the bathroom this morning revealed what I think is causing the suddenly abnormally high BF% (no, not pregnant, lol). Solved part of the issue this morning, but still some to go.

12/6 - 140.2 lbs. - 12.9% - Before measuring today, spent a bit more time in the bathroom getting rid of more of what is causing the false high BF% readings.

    12/7 - 141.4 lbs. - 13.1%

12/8 - 139.8 lbs. - 13.5% - I was expecting to start this round with some wonky numbers; but end up close to accurate and drastically improved weight and body fat %. Ended up losing 10.6 lbs.; about 3-4 lbs. of which was fat. I struggled in the first couple years of dieting where tracking calories didn't work and nobody could figure out why; but much learning and experimentation and I consider myself to know my body very well now and can call myself a very advanced dieter. That said, the 10% body fat goal by 12/30 is still going to be very difficult and a tight goal... but I believe it is possible.

*Next round will once again start with some high and wonky numbers at first and end up drastically better by the end.

This round should start with some high and wonky numbers, but should be drastically better by the end.

    12/9 - 139.4 lbs. - 13.9% - Surprised it isn't higher, but might catch up.

12/10 - 150.0 lbs. - 13.3% - Weight has caught up, body fat should increase soon, I would expect.

12/11 - 149.6 lbs. - 10.9% - Not sure I believe the BF%; so let's see what happens. I expected it to increase along with weight.

12/12 - 147.4 lbs. - 11.0% - Surprised BF is remaining... eventually, perhaps I'll start figuring it is correct.

    12/13 - 145.8 lbs. - 11.2%

    12/14 - 143.4 lbs - 11.2% - Looks like consistency on BF%.

12/15 - 141.6 lbs. - 12.6% - This is what I get for eating salad yesterday... an inflated BF% result. I know it isn't real, but still gets to me. :(

    12/16 - 141.6 lbs. - 11.9% BF.

    12/17 - 143.2 lbs. - 11.0%

    12/18 - 140.8 lbs. - 11.3%

Back again! I started midway through Round 2 at 153.9 on 4/29. For this round I'd like to get below and stay below 140. Started at 162 something back in early March so I'm down over 20 pounds but haven't lost in a couple of months. I am aiming to reach goal of 139 before New Years. It's been verrry slow the last couple months.

    Day/Weight/Comment

    12/8... 140.6

12/09...139.6 Did a very energetic pool class yesterday that was so much fun. Today, another. Aiming to stay below 140 this round.
12/10... 141, well pshaw! Did another energetic pool class yesterday, ate within cal limits and finished eating early. What's up with this?Today, Asian food out (hello sodium), ellip and touring historic home. Come on 139!
12/11...142.4 Ate sushi yesterday=lots of carbs from white rice and sodium but so good. Hoping to see this go back down some after today. Gonna do some exercise... not awake enough to plan what.
12/12...141.4 Drank wine last night but ate within goals. Need to get some exercise today
12/13...141.4 More wine! 'Tis the season. I fear I have become too comfortable about this weight - feel better and clothes fit better and that is why I've not been really working to lose. Allowing myself too many treats. That, and I'm cooking way more for others and not for myself since my son and grandson moved in with me. I need to get my attitude adjusted as I'm only 2/3's of the way to my goal and have been here for months.
12/14...141.8 Just not getting exercise last few days. Today, elliptical!
12/15..141.8 Gotten so lazy where exercise is concerned. So tired lately.
12/16...141.6 Down a little. Still not exercising. Not feeling well today. Stomach kinda achy. This too shall pass.
12/17.. 142.2 Went out with the girls and had an alcoholic milkshake and it was yum. Now I know what it is and I believe I can live happily if I never have another. Today exercise and lemon water.
12/18... Not even going to tell it.

12/09 - 144.2 hopefully I can hold onto this over the next few days. Today will be interesting, potluck lunch and pub Christmas party for dinner. At least there will be lots of movement with the dog competition we are going to.
12/10 - 143.2 might be a false blip but I’ll take it for now :) Didn’t end up logging the potluck it just became too complicated with a little bit of this and that but I think I did alright with a light plate and then I chose a single dessert to treat myself and try. Then at the pub I really didn’t want to derail things so I chose to drive and have a club soda and chicken Caesar salad so I think I did alright. More dog competition today and another potluck lunch so hopefully I can keep it up.
12/11 - 143.2 very happy with this number. After the weekend of two potlucks and a pub evening Christmas party I feel like I managed to mostly keep it together. Took the same approach to the potluck I did on Sunday and went with the small plate and chose 1 treat to sample. Hoping to keep it up.
12/12 - 143.2 ended up doing drive through for dinner which was a mistake. Normally when that happens I skip the fries and I’m usually pretty good but I thought last night I would eat them. OMG they were so salty and I didn’t stop until 3/4 of the way through. Ugh the busy holiday season is making meals a bit tough. Keep pushing for the healthy or at least reasonable choices though.
12/13 - 143.0 headed in the right direction. Gotta keep it together with this crazy holiday season wind up. Still so much to do yet.
12/14 - 142.4 um ok? Yesterday was busy, went to the gym and then dog class. I didn’t eat a whole of dinner since it was kind of a flop so I threw most of it out and I ended up doing some baking tasting :) Christmas party dinner tonight so that’s definitely going to put me over daily calories.
12/15 143.6 yeah yesterday wasn’t great. I wasn’t organized ahead of time and ended up having to purchase a salad for lunch then definitely over ate hugely at the Christmas party dinner. It was a sit down meal so tough to really portion control unfortunately. But as long as every day isn’t like that the trend should continue which is the main thing.
12/16 - 143.0 did some power shopping yesterday. Struggling a bit with logging all my foods with the holiday season and haven’t made time to go the grocery store to refill the veggie drawer so I need to carve out some time for that so I can keep on track with the crazy Christmas holiday meals that are around.
12/17 - 143.6 uh oh, paying for the sins of the over indulgence at the Christmas party last night. Should be able to keep it together today though as it’s a get organized for Christmas Day today.
12/18 - 143.0 ended this round in a decent place. Pretty happy with the average drop over the last 10 days. Got to keep posting if I’m going to make it through this crazy Christmas season. Another Christmas lunch today and then the rest of the week should be good for food until the weekend. Looking forward to the next round.

    Historical starting weight: 193 pounds
    Recent SW: 175lbs
    Current Weight: 172.9 lbs
    UGW: 150
    GW: 160

    12/09 - 172.5

12/10 171 yay! I can’t believe after a day of 2 parties I have lost weight haha! Whether it’s real weight or water weight, keeps me motivated to make healthy choices today. First stop brunch! Will try to order a salad. UPDATE: I ordered a patty melt with fries instead. Oops!!

12/11 - 175.1 .... wtf?! Not the best way to start a Monday but I won't get discouraged. It's all about long term trends! And I have healthy meals planned out for myself today so if I follow that I have faith that tomorrow will be better.

12/12 - 173.1 - ok it's going back down. This daily weighing exercise is just showing me how much my weight fluctuates from day to day, and it's ok! All about the overall consistent downward trend and making healthy choices on a daily basis that will be reflected on the scale days/weeks/even months from now. Yesterday I ate really well during the day and had an amazing Soulcycle spin class in the evening, but then I was super hungry afterward and I overate, so that wasn't good. I also had a big tall glass of Sauvignon Blanc with dinner, which gave me a headache and woke me up in the night. For the rest of the weeknights (Tuesday - Thursday), I am going to focus on 1) not drinking alcohol in the evenings, and 2) eating light dinners in the evenings and not snacking afterward. I meal prepped a bunch of yummy healthy vegetable soups so I am going to make those a focus in the evenings. Go team!

12/13 172.4 - OK so this counts as a .1 loss since the first day of the challenge. Yay! haha. Including today and the last day, we have 6 more days of the challenge to actually make a difference. Yesterday was a pretty good day - I went to hot yoga at lunch and I ate well and did not binge at night. I did have a glass of wine with dinner, and I did have a snack before bed because I was actually hungry, but it was a healthy snack (yogurt and muesli). Overall I am satisfied with my day yesterday, and I am motivated to make today an even better day. It's a rest day for exercise, but I will eat healthy and drink a lot of green tea and water. Woot! Also looking for motivated/motivating friends so if you're reading this please feel free to add me.

12/14 - 172.4 - Meh! Same as yesterday. I ate pretty well all day but then had too much cheese and some chocolate at night before bed (terrible idea). Planning to eat well today and have a workout at the condo gym toward the end of the night. My big challenge tonight will be to not overeat out of boredom. Fiance's out of town and I have no plans other than staying in with the dog, so it will be very tempting to just eat all the cheese in the house. Cheese is my biggest downfall!

12/15 171.8 - well that's cool! I think over the next 4 days including today I can definitely make it into the high 169 range at this rate. Yesterday I ate really well and went to the gym to do a treadmill/elliptical combo. I ate a snack after work, worked out, then had a late dinner, which might be a good combo for me, as I don't get hungry before bed. This seems crazy but maybe I eat dinner too early, which leads me to snack/binge at night?! This weekend's going to be a bit of a gong show with events, I have 2 holiday parties tonight with open bars, then 1 event tomorrow night, then 2 events on Sunday, one of which is a Christmas cookie swap  . My goal during all this is moderation - just because there is an open bar or hundreds of cookies doesn't mean I need to eat all the cookies or drink all the drinks. Weekend motto: "one or two will do!"

12/16 - ... Decided not to weigh myself. I ate well during the day, but went to 2 parties and then came home and ate pizza with my fiancé in bed. It was great! haha. woke up this morning a bit hung over and very thirsty, so I drank tons of water. With a pizza food baby and several cups of water in me, I think weighing in today would be inaccurate and depressing / demotivating. I'm planning to eat well today and go for a half hour lane swim, and will not be partying tonight, so the number on the scale should be okay tomorrow. Go team!!

12/17 - 174 - meh...this makes sense. late night junk food post bar...

12/18 173.6 - at least it's going down. I think it makes sense for me to weigh myself once a week on Fridays in order to see overall trends. I end up eating really well during the week overall and then the weekends go to H* in a handbasket, especially around the holidays, but overall I have a downward trend so I am not going to be too hard on myself! This was a helpful exercise for me, as I got to see my weigh fluctuations on a daily basis and see how certain foods and behaviours correlate to weight gain and loss on a day to day basis. Thanks everyone!

12/18: 160.0 Still fighting off a cold, going to listen to my body, skip workouts & get more sleep. More important to fight off cold than get workouts in, especially being so busy with Christmas preparations. Keep pushing zinc tablets, extra vitamin C & water. Workouts will resume once (a) I feel better and (b) crazy busy-ness ends. Net calories barely green but sodium very red & light on fiber (again) / 12c water. Fitbit 8,247 steps, 250+ steps 11/14 hours & 17 floors.

Enough. I'm off this afternoon to check out a gym - no more weather excuses for lack of exercise. And I've been lax about my eating, so seriously getting back on track and hitting the macros hard - 30P/30F/40C. We will be moving across the country in late February, and I want 10 pounds less of me by then. That's 10 weeks from now, so a pound a week, so 1.4 per 10-day round (assuming they'll be continuing in 2018, I hope?!?) I'm down a little from R15, but really, pretty stable over many weeks, so my metabolism is fine and this should be doable if I stick to the plan.

Back on track yesterday. Nothing showing on the scale, but I feel lighter, if that makes any sense.

Oh, for heaven's sake. It's like fat has superglue.

    12/12 - 149.2
OK, now I'm really getting frustrated. The only thing different yesterday was that I was a bit heavier than usual on carbs (whole grain). I have been lower fat, higher protein & carbs than usual the past few days. I wonder whether that could make the difference? So disappointing!

    Finally. Now to continue....

    12/14 - 148.8
    Sooooo sloooowwwww. Sigh.

    12/15 - 149
I had a bit of a splurge last night, so ok. I've revised my goals based on reality rather than wishes.

Maybe my goal adjustment yesterday wasn't based on quite enough reality. I did have some extra calories last night - a bag of Harry & David's mixed nuts. Why oh why do they put two servings in one little bag that I had no way to secure half-way through? :-) Oh, well. I guess holding the line through the holidays is a good thing. Thinking of lowering my carbs, but not until after Christmas.

Whoa! Finally! Maybe I'll hit my goal for the round after all.

    12/18 - 148.4
Not quite my goal, but this is good. On to the next round!
