When I grew up...hearts were red. Like this:

<3

Now, they can be yellow and blue and purple and other things.

Is this good?

I send red hearts...because that's how I was raised.

Yeah, I was caught aback by all of those alternative hearts when I saw them on the emoji keyboard, but I suppose they have their uses. I suppose. Have I seen any good uses? No, but... why would anyone do it without a reason, rigth?

    I love this:
    Like...Yellow traditionally signifies...fear, and insantiy.

See: Call of Cthulhu. Hastur. That's a super monster...it's like...idk..hard to describe. You wouldn't like it. But it's yellow.

Strange aeons we live in, my friend.

Yellow roses signify friendship. Perhaps the yellow heart is agape love?
If that is the way it goes, Red hearts are passion, pink hearts are true love.

Not sure about the blue and green. I love blue, it is my favourite colour, so I will always choose a blue heart when in doubt. I heart blue!!

Yellow is not really a bad color. It's beautiful. That's our sun.

Yeah! I love yellow. Next to blue, yellow is one of my favourites. My mom always dressed me in yellow and called me her sunshine girl. And I am a ray of sunshine! Mostly

I like the orange and purple ones, so that's typically what I send. Or the red one with sparkles.. cause' glitter. :D

Orange: Energy, balance, enthusiasm, warmth, vibrant, expansive, flamboyant, demanding of attention.

Purple: Royalty, nobility, spirituality, ceremony, mysterious, transformation, wisdom, enlightenment, cruelty, honor, arrogance, mourning, temperance.

Despite the fact that any Valentine's Day card ever made depicts a bright red heart, your heart really isn't red at all. The blood that it pumps is red, but your heart itself is darker and browner than the blood it pumps … it is more the color of a colonial brick house.

Hearts can be whatever color someone likes. Conversation heart candies have been multicolor for as long as I can remember so I don't know why internet hearts should only be one color.

I have heard of color meanings/psychology where color is associated with certain feelings like blues, purples and greens for calm, sadness, sleepiness and yellow, orange and red for things like high energy, hunger, anger, passion. I usually think of that in terms of product design or interior decorating. I remember some fortune telling thing from years ago that was supposed to tell something about you based on your favorite color.

    Just like roses.
    Red is passionate love
Yellow is remembrance, can also mean bright and cheerfull,
    Pink is friendship or innocence
Green is growth and healing, or possibly the leprechauns are just feeling "romantic"
    Blue is serenity or peacefulness
    Black is Goth love
And purple is just generally fabulous :)
