5 pounds. Humbug.

So for the last 3 days, I've tracked a bit but enjoyed a few holiday treats and drinks. All in moderation, only slightly over my usual calorie level and not the full on pig fest I traditionally do. I also haven't been able to work out, with shopping and wrapping and general getting readiness. I had already been in a small stall but I have now put on 5 pounds. There's NO way I have eaten 3500 calories x 5 over maintenance so it's water RIGHT? I plan to fully enjoy tomorrow and then go back to tracking, deficit and exercise on the 27th. But boy oh boy, 5 pounds makes me grinchy!

I see from your profile you're female - I gain a little when I ovulate and more premenstrually. If I were to have Chinese food premenstrually, I could easily go up 5 pounds. It all comes off in a whoosh in a week.
I'm sure you're correct and the vast majority of that 5 # is water weight1 -
Yes water for sure, unless you completely went way overboard, which it sounds like you did not. Enjoy the time with your friends/family and then get after it on the 27th!0

Pretty much identical situation to me. It's water, glycogen replenishment and more food in your system. Don't sweat it. Assess any "damage" after a week or so of being back to regularly scheduled programming.2

Got the same issue. Yeah, I'm not tracking, but up ~4lbs since Thursday. I know it'll pass but yeah, it's a downer.0
