Hello everyone!
I am in desperate need of some advice, I have been working very hard for the past month and a half and the weight is just not coming off. I try to eat healthy and keep with the calorie intake that MFP suggested, I have also been going to the gym 3-4x a week. Recently I have tried switching my exercise routine, but nothing seems to work. I figure either I have to go 7x a week to the gym or I'm going terribly wrong with what I eat. Either way some advice would be greatly appreciate it.

Based on a peek at your diary, you're not eating enough. You're slowing down your metabolism by not giving your body the fuel it needs.0
-
A good place to start would be to lower your carbs and increase your protein. Clean up your diet to more natural foods.0

There are a million variables which can affect your progress either positively or negatively so there's no one simple answer to your question as it's never Black and White.
For instance:
Are you getting enough sleep daily?
Are you timing your meals regularly?
Are you choosing quality as well as quantity in your meals?
Are you properly fuelling your workouts and giving yourself all you need to recover between sessions?
As well, what you do at the gym is far more important than how long and how often you're there.
Changes take time and it's a case of little steps along the way that add up to a lifetime of progress.0 -
It takes the body 6-8 weeks to realize that you're doing something to change yourself. It took me 8 weeks to see any difference. Stick with it. You body is adapting to what you're doing and soon you will start to see the changes. It may not be the scale. It might be your shirt is fitting better or you go down a pant/dress size. You didn't get to this weight in 6 weeks. It's going to take time. You're doing good. Keep it up!0

As other said, I too would reverse your carb and protein numbers.
I set mine to Protein 45%, Carbs 25%, Fat 30% -- -and the carbs DO NOT come from cake, white bread, donuts, pancakes, etc...
They come from things like quinoa, greek yogurt, fruit/veggies, whole grains etc...
Of course no one can perfect - I cheat a lot, but this is what I TRY to do
PS -- unless you are extremely tiny or you just had bariatric surgery -- you need more calories0 -

I agree with her ^. I looked at your food diary going back about a week or so. You certainly aren't eating enough foods. You MUST net at least 1,200 calories a day. That includes AFTER exercising. If you exercise I really think you should try to eat at least 1/2 those calories. Your body needs food to burn fat. Healthy food mind you. 800 calories a day will only make you keep your weight on. When I first started I thought everyone was crazy! But they're right about eating up!! Have fun doing it! You'll find it's so hard to eat up! Get creative! Eat high calorie low fat foods. You can do it!0 -
Hi! I took a look at your diary and it looks to me like you need to be eating more, but cut back on carbs and fat. I see most days you don't even consume 1200 gross cals, and that's before working out. Try eating more lean meats and vegetables and make sure you are consuming at least 1200 cals! I know many people on here don't eat their exercise calories back, but you may want to try! Good luck!0

From what I've seen so far....you're not eating enough. Looks like only once this week you've managed to nearly hit your target.
It's been recommended a number of times on these forums to ensure you're at least eating 1200 calories. Some days, I'm seeing that you've also switched your goal calories too.
When you're exercising a lot, you need to ensure that your body has enough energy to keep going. MFP already has a daily deficit built into your daily calorie allowance and you're kind of shooting yourself in the foot if you don't abide by it as it's not healthy to under eat...just like it's not healthy to over eat.
If you're feeling tired and frustrated, try eating a little more. Tiredness from lack of energy can make things seem a lot worse than it really is.
Try eating up to your calorie allowance as much as possible for a couple to a few weeks and see how you feel.0 -
I am like you in that I work out, etc and the weight just doesn't come off fast enough. I see where people say "You are not eating enough calories" and that is so confusing to me because I see these very thin people at the medical clinic I work at, some of who are even anorexic and they are not eating many calories and are thin (many TOO thin). So, I think, how can it be that I need to eat more calories to lose weight when these people are not eating a whole lot and are nice and thin. Ugh. It is all so confusing. Even one of the skinny docs here says that I need to just eat a max of 1,000 calories per day if I really want to lose weight. He is an old timer. Just don't know.0

Just took a look at your diary, and it could be that your not eating enough?! I know it sounds dumb, but if you have fuel for your body to burn, your body is constantly working and burning:) Also I'm not sure if your a pop drinker or not, but try only drinking water for three days straight! Lessen your sugars, because for some reason us women's body tends to hold sugar in our bodies!! ahhhh!! also you could've probably hit a plateu, which is what I'm going through right now, so there is major diet change going on, and I'm trying to get lots of fruits, and protien in my body, laying off the juice, and drinking more water! Good luck to ya, sometimes it takes a lil longer, don't get discouraged, you'll see a changE! :happy:0

Thanks for the advice everyone!
I find it very hard to hit 1200 cals, is not that I am trying to starve myself I just eat when I'm hungry and it is usually really hard to eat all of them, especially the calories I burn during workout. I will try to lower my carbs and increase protein though thanks for the input! In terms of drinking pop, I don't I really only drink water and I have been logging everything I eat.0 -

Im sure a lot of people are going to tell you that youre not eating enough. By looking at your diary, Im going to have to agree. You are eating under 1200 calories every day! Even on days that you exercise! Try to stay at 1200 on days you dont exercise and on the days you do exercise try eating at least 1/2 of your exercise cals back.0

Man I wish I had that problem! All I want to do is eat! lol Try snacking every 2-3 hours with the calories adding up to 150-200 cals. This helps me also and I hear its supposed to boost up your metabolism.0 -
I've just come home from the gym, all disappointed and was going to post exactly the same comment.
I have been at the gym for 7 weeks now, going from a couch potato to a gym addict in this time, but the weight is just not moving.
I started at 12 st 7 lbs and my scales at home said I had got down to 12 st, but now the scales at the gym say I am back upto 12st 5lbs!!
I am absolutely gutted!! Surely that from going from doing no exercise whatsoever to about 5 times a week - must make a difference!!0
