Glad Christmas is over

My goal for the holidays, Thanksgiving through Christmas, was to not gain. I wasn't going to try to continue to lose, that would just be stupid and defeating. Well I gained 4 pounds. Not great but not awful either. So now I'm glad Christmas is over so I can get back to my new normal. I'm going to have to re lose those same 4 pounds, then 17 more. I'm sad that I had lost 53 pounds, now I'm back to 49. 49 sounds so much different than 50. lol. I did notice that sweets tasted so much sweeter than they used to, I really didn't like them as much. Some old habits, like late night snacking started to show back up so I have to nip that in the bud. All in all it could have been worse. Maybe this will reset me and give me a jump start. Fingers crossed.

I hear you. I plan to throw out all the leftover candies and goodies that did not get eaten. And, get back to my routine. Good luck to all of us!3

I enjoyed the time off with family, but am ready to get back to my routine. Haven’t actually weighed yet...,3

I'm up 3.5lbs since Saturday. It's just water weight, not fat - no way did I over-eat by that much! I always take a maintenance break around holidays and birthdays, so I'll be back on the wagon in the New Year and the "extra" will soon be gone.
Don't beat yourself up about it, but don't let it be an excuse to slide back into old habits either. Good luck with losing the last few pounds!3 -
shocked as I weighted this morning and up 5 pounds since Xmas Eve!! better be water weight.. but I'm back on track today!! but did indulge in 2 pieces of Belgium chocolates, fruit cake with ice cream, ham, turkey and dressing... and movie popcorn twice all since Xmas Eve night!! haha was a beautiful Christmas but GIIO... glad it is over!!!!4

Unfortunately, you’re not alone. I weighed this morning, and I’m up 4 lbs also. It’s tough this time of year with so many temptations. I agree with Sue. Let’s not beat ourselves up or use it as an excuse to keep making poor choices. WE can do this! Congratulations on the weight you’ve lost. What an amazing accomplishment! Remember how far you’ve come, especially when those New Years weight loss ads start popping up everywhere.3

Yep. I'm back on track today. Unfortunately my bad time is at home in the evening in front of the tv. I didn't bring home any of the desserts, cookies or candy, even the things I made. I need to clean out my refrigerator and cabinets again.2 -
I am up a little over 4 pounds as well. I am getting back on track today!3

Looks like several of us are 4 pounders. We put it back on in just a couple of weeks but will probably take a month or more to get back off. sigh.3

I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays. I guess what we can take from all these 4 lb gains is to remember just how easy it is to get off track. If we have weak moments when we want to fall off the wagon, think of the 4 lbs.
I will weigh myself tomorrow likely with similar results. But I did go to an out if town gym twice during the holidays. There was a poster up that said "it's not what you eat between Christmas and New Years that matters. It's what you eat between New Years and Christmas that matters!"4 -

That is very true!
Life happens. There will always be celebrations and events involving food, at any time of year, and I for one am not going to live the rest of my life avoiding treats and indulgences or all the regular food I enjoy. As long as I control my intake for the majority of the time, it's not an issue if I overindulge on occasion. This isn't "a diet", this is for life.3 -
I didn't weigh but I physically felt bad when I indulged. The heartburn was horrible when my eating habits were bad. I will weigh in a week when I get back home from work. I'm glad I'm back to my normal routine now.1

I gain 10lbs since the Holidays. I’m glad it over. New Year and some self control next time.0

I am up 2lbs and am sure it is water weight. You have to enjoy life at times too.... All good back at it until next Christmas lol1

Turns out I had gained 5 pounds since Thanksgiving, not 4 like I originally thought. I got back on my program right after Christmas and have now lost 3 of the 5. 2 more to go to get back to where I was. I hate having to re lose pounds I had already worked to lose. Right now I have a total of 19 more pounds to go. It was a good lesson though. I can indulge for special occasions without feeling defeated. I used to throw everything out the window if I didn't stay rigid or if I "cheated." This is a lifestyle change, not a diet with an end date. This was more of a "reboot".0
