Getting Enough Protein

I have been tracking all of my calories manually for the last 16 months. I lost 30 pounds in the first 6 months and have been maintaining +- 2 pounds ever since. Recently I started some weight training (previously only cardio) and found myself extremely tired and not progressing properly. My trainer suggested that I input my food into this software and I found that I am not getting nearly enough protein. I have a sweet tooth and eat about 300 calories of sweets per day. This system tells me that I need to eat less sugar and more protein. I have been happy with my weight, although conventional wisdom says that I should weight about 10 pounds less to have the "mid-level" body fat percentage for my age. It does seem to be helping to see (each day) that I am missing the protein goal. I am starting to try a little harder to get the right nutrients.

What are your daily protein requirements? I eat a ton of it as a vegetarian, and you can get a very high ratio of protein to other macronutrients from things like:

Low-fat cottage cheese - 14 grams per serving
0% Greek yogurt or skyr (Icelandic yogurt) - 22 grams per serving
Whey protein isolate (powder) - 20-24 grams per serving
Lean chicken (not for me, of course) - 20+ grams per serving

If your needs are less than 80 grams it shouldn't be too hard to hit the target. I eat 173 grams a day minimum and that does take a decent amount of effort on lower-calorie days.

My goal is 78. Your ideas are good. I did better today...76. I added lean chicken to 2 meals.
