It's very hard to predict: Age, genetics, and more can make a difference. It might be less than you fear, in any case.

If you take as look at the "Success Stories" forum here, you'll find quite a few posts about major weight loss, usually with before & after photos, and some speak very honestly about loose skin. Universally, they seem happier to be thinner, even if with loose skin, than overweight.

If you look in the "Most Helpful Posts" section of "Success Stories", you'll find links to some of the most dramatic stories.

I had 40 lbs to lose (and I accomplished this steadily but slowly). Even though it wasn’t a crazy amount of weight, I’ve gone from a size 10-12 to a 0-2 in the last 21 months. I have loose skin, especially my belly. I can feel muscles underneath but it hangs when I do stuff like planks or pushups. Either way, I still look wayyyy better now at this healthy weight than when I was overweight. The loose skin would only be seen by hubs, in my case anyway so who cares?! I’m only 6 months into my recomp, so I’ll see whether my skin tightens up in the next year or two. Better commit to losing the weight slowly and add in weights as you are able to. Good luck!

It all depends. I came down from a high of 256 lbs and I have sagging skin on my abdomen and thighs. Don't worry yourself so much about it.

I lost close to 60lbs and by stomach had a lose skin, but it has gotten better and now that I'm tracking my food and working out again I know I can target it.

Weight loss puts a lot of demands on you physically, mentally, and emotionally. Don't waste a single bit of energy thinking about "what ifs" and put everything you've got into what you need to do *right now*, which is focusing on accurate logging & consistency. We'll talk about skin in a couple of years :)

I’ve lost around 120lb total, over the course of 7 years (lots of off and on dieting, as well as year long plateaus). I was lucky enough to have little/ no loose skin up to this point, but time will tell. I use firming lotion (even if it’s effects are minimal, at least I’m keeping my skin hydrated!).
