When I first set out to get healthy 5 years ago, running became my biggest asset! I trained for one 5k, having NEVER run before in my life. The first time I ran I think I tried for about a minute 30 seconds and probably vomitted or was very near it. I took baby steps, and a few years after I signed up for a half marathon, also thinking "I've never done this, what the heck was I thinking!?" BUT I trained, and RAN all 13 ridiculous miles! If you knew me before, the me who NEVER exercised, cut gym class, pigged out 24/7, got winded going to the mailbox... you'd have thought like I did, that this fat lard has zero chance of running like that! but at 233lbs, I simply started. and lost about 90lbs total in the process. After my half marathon I started "recovery"... that was over a year ago :( and I put 30lbs back on, so this year to kick my own butt, I joined the 1000 miles running challenge at ilovetorun.org. They have several challenges and I think since it's Jan 1st, its a great day to join! you can cut it in half and join as a team even! Anyone thats into running period, or even if you just wanna give it a shot, or join a challenge please add me, and lets end 2018 feeling like rock stars!

Excellent goal, 20 miles a week will be tough to keep up all year so use that enthusiasm to get extra in the bank while you can. Having set myself a challenge like this last year it’s far to easy to get behind.

Ya my goal last year was similar, and i let things stop me, but this year I've went above and beyond to set myself up for success. It also free to join the challenge but I paid to have the medal just so it would be looming over my head convicting me if I wasn't still on track. Plus I plan to train for another half marathon, so theres a few long run days in the future which will help offset the need for so many every single day. a few friends have also joined, and that always helps encourage :)
