Gym induction

Hey all,

So i've recently moved to a new city and have finally got round to signing up to a new gym. I have my induction in an hour and I'm freaking out. It's not like I've never been to the gym before since I was a regular member of the one back home. I just can't help feeling like everyone will be judging me and staring and I feel so self conscious!

Anyone else ever experienced the same thing?

I think everyone feels that way when they start at a new gym but really everyone is going to be so focused on themselves no one will be judging you!
  • Just remember every time you used to significantly notice someone having a induction at your old gym, and how much you stared. It'll be just like that (I'm guessing... NEVER)!

Everyone will most likely be focusing on themselves rather than you, so don't worry! I felt the exact same way when I started in the gym but no one will be judging you. They all most likely had to get a gym induction as well

Most people will take a quick glance and continue with their workout. Don't fret all will be good

It's the first week of the new year. 90 percent of the people you see today likely will be new.

Why would the people, and the experience, in your new gym be an different than from your prior gym? Kinda insulting to your new neighbors, no? " I was a regular member of the one back home" Why would expect a different experience?

Eh, you might get a few curious looks - just because you're new. Then again, you might get lucky, like I did when I started at the gym a number of years back - one of the regulars came right over, as I was looking around unsure about things and struck up a conversation with me and made me feel much more comfortable.

Who cares if they are judging you, and perhaps they are judging you. So what? Are people supposed just stop everything and hide in their houses for eternity because they fear someone else’s opinion? Are these people in the gym you respect? Probably not.

You want to reach a goal? Then stop worring about what people think and put the work in.

It's January...there's going to be like a million brand new people there. As a veteran gym goer, trust me...we really don't care and have zero clue who you are. We're a little to busy to sit around "judging" you or anyone else.

It's human nature to feel like because you're at the center of your own life, you're also at the center of everyone else's life. But it's not true.

To everybody in the gym, you're just another in a long line of new members. There have been many before you and there will be many more after you. At this time of year, probably at least half of those members are newbies themselves. Unless you break into a bad karaoke routine in the center of the gym floor or something equally attention-grabbing, you won't even be noticed.
