After 7 years on MFP, it's just clicked...

Hi all. I've been on MFP since 2011 but I've very rarely looked at the forum and I've never posted.

I wish I'd looked in sooner, because it's finally clicked with me regarding exercise calories. I tend to make myself miserable trying to stick to the calorie goal and it never occurred to me that you can eat back those exercise calories. After seven years, it's finally dawned on me how the app works!

Anyway, new year new motivation. My weight over those 7 years has yo-yoed been 101 and 120kgs. I'm currently at 116kgs, but determined to break that 100kg barrier this year. It's a psychological barrier as much as a physical one.

I thought 'calorie deficit' meant I had to burn off every calorie that I'd eaten that day, which was almost impossible! No wonder I was demotivated!

Me too! On since 2010 and it's just now clicking about how important nutrition is: weighing foods, correct macro proportion (when I have enough cals and I feel weak...usually I didn't eat enough carbs, etc). Also on the importance of just stay consistent. It's so simple but never really "clicked." Better late than never, for us both!
