How long is the adjustment period?

I've started changing up my diet. Consuming more veggies and whole foods, eating out less and trying to majorly cut back sugar. I've noticed since starting on the 2nd my stomach has been hurting like crazy. How long until my stomach will stop hating me :(

Hard to say.. what does "stomach has been hurting like crazy" mean, exactly? Are you eating something that doesn't agree with you? Are you wicked hungry?

Wicked hungry and I find that whenever I eat my new prepped healthy meals it just moves right through me. My stomach just doesn't seem to agree with it.

I am going to be super blunt here and ask are you having diarrhea? No shame just have a few helpful tips.

It's going to depend on why your stomach feels like that. If it's because you've drastically increased your fiber with all of those veggies, for instance, then backing off and increasing more slowly might help. But if it's something like an allergy or intolerance that you've happened upon by changing up your foods, then that might not go away. More information might help, but you can also get checked out by a doc if it's causing you big problems.

Not exactly but more reactive bowels than normal. Kind of puts a damper on being at work haha.

Lots of fiberous veggies that you aren't used to eating? That will do that.

Haha I totally understand. Yeah what @diannethegeek said. You have probably introduced too much fiber into your system too quickly and your body is having a WTF moment. Back off the high fiber foods for a few days and slowly introduce more fiber into your diet over time.

Definitely sounds like the culprit is the sudden change in dietary choices. Especially adding a lot more fiber, that can do a real number on your insides.

I'd dial it back and sloooowly add more fiber-rich, fresh foods to your diet instead of all at once. Good luck!

Many people report symptoms like this when they increase their fiber intake substantially all at once. If this is what is going on with you, reducing your fiber and gradually increasing it is a strategy that has helped some people.

When I first started I felt completely miserable for three weeks. Hungry, tired, mentally foggy. I cut out all fast food, junk food and random snacking. I think my body was in shock! After that three weeks I felt fantastic. Now I feel bad when I eat the way I used to. Hang in there!

The increased fiber thoughts are reasonable, but I would definitely check-in with your doctor to rule out more serious issues. I was told by my doctor that it is not unusual for something to occur while you are losing weight, in my case it was a diseased gallbladder.

    Good Luck and Best Wishes,
    Debra

Aside from the fiber stuff itself, often changing your diet too quickly, too much can also upset your stomach. How much were you eating before? How much have you actually cut back? Hardly surprising if you cut back too much you're vstill hungry. Especially if what you ARE eating is going right through you.
It might be a good idea to look back to your normal diet, and try cutting things out more slowly. And THEN reintroducing the stuff you aren't used to yet.

Are you sure you’re eating enough calories?
