Okay so this is a wierd question and everyone is prob different, but how many, if you lost a lot of weight, have loose skin? I want to get down for right now to 180 and now I'm at 261. I just want to know what to expect, no miracle, but don't want to look worse than what I do now.

I'll be honest - my skin is a little flappy.

My upper arms and breasts are the worst, but my stomach and inner thighs aren't quite "normal". I'm hoping that with more muscle mass and time, it'll fix itself.

I'd rather deal with a little extra skin than an extra 60+ lbs.

I have it. It's worst in my upper arms (you know what I mean) and yes I hate it, but I like it better than having really fat arms like I had before AND I have majorly noticed that it is tightening up. I am really working on toning my arms and that is helping too. I don't have any loose skin in my tummy now, although I did a few months ago and I have a bit in my thighs, but my thighs have always been my trouble spot so I will never expect them to look perfect

Worst comes to worst, there are plastic surgery options avaliable to remove loose extra skin. :flowerforyou:

Unfortunately our skin stretches when we gain weight but doesnt shrink if we lose a lot of weight. my issue is toning. I have loose skin but mostly untoned areas. guess I'll need to step up the strength training and exercise. :grumble:

You will have looser skin. I have only lost 17lbs and my breasts are already old-ladyish (I am 22!!!). I haven't lost enough yet so see any looseness in the rest of my body. the older you are and the more you have to lose the looser your skin will be after you lose. Loose skin sucks, but its better than fat!

Not sure how tall you are but I'm 5'6" and weighed 235 at my heaviest. I am currently at 186 and would say that my skin is not really hanging anywhere. The majority of my exercising is walking/running on the treadmill but I do try to get a DVD workout in a couple times a week using resistance bands or hand weights. I think it helps if you lose weight slower and are doing some kind of weight bearing exercise along with the cardio to help your skin not be saggy. My arms are my worst area so I'm trying to really concentrate on that area even while watching tv.

    Hope that helps a little.

Thanks, was just wondering what everyone else's was doing because I've noticed my tummy, YUCK! But then it doesn't help that my two wonderful children helped that out too!

Yes I think that as a mom, you'll have a hard time getting rid of that completely. Consider it a battle scar  I don't have kids yet but i'm sure when I do I'll have oodles of hangy skin in that area.

Some of the looseness should go away over time...but skin will never be as tight as it was when you were 15 or anything!

LOL I'll never look like when I was 15, that would take an act of God, or REALLY great plastic doc!
  • I have lost 16 pounds and I can feel lose skin around my stomach. I am lifting weights and that is helping all the other areas of my body. I have gone down two sizes. I still do sit ups but they said that your stomach is the last one to tone. Don't get too discouraged it will all come together in the end:smile:95455.png

After losing almost 110 lbs, my stomach is especially saggy...it looks the same exact way it did when I was 265 :ohwell: It makes it really hard to feel proud of my success because it still makes me look about 50 lbs heavier than I am. I have to wear control top panty hose and spanx to keep in all my saggin skin. I have a consultation with a plastic surgoen in October & can't wait for that day! Here in Alberta, I've heard that the costs may be covered. That's my number one priority right now, the tummy. I lift up the excess skin & see the body I want, so I think I'll be a great canidate! After that, My inner thighs, arms, and jiggly bits under my arm pits....I think the stomach alone though will help me overlook the rest.... a new boob job wouldn't hurt either! haha
