I don't know how you can be more accountable then weighting your food and making the right choices. You also said you have never done any sort of diet before and then you said later that you used MFP and lost 62lbs. My advice you will lose weight and you will gain it back when you stop the Isagenix. If you do not change your daily eating habits it will always be a yoyo.
I agree totally! The Isagenix though is just a protein shake, no different than what millions of other people do. It replaces a meal for me while still getting the good stuff in.
What I meant was that I had never done a diet program (weight watchers, jenny craig, herbalife, etc). I had lost the weight just weighing my foods and not eating junk food. As soon as I stopped I gained it all back plus another 10. I treated it like a diet, not a lifestyle change. And exactly like you said, it became another drop in the yoyo affect.3 -

Is that true though? The shakes are just an easy meal replacement. When I get to the place where I am just doing maintenance, if I do healthy choices that still see me stick to my daily calorie and carb limits, I don't see how it would come back on. I could be wrong, but I'm sure neither of us know for sure.3 -

I was curious as to how much Isagenix cost the 30 day starter pack is $400!! Holy crap! So what do you do after 30 days?
I buy a Protein powder for $60 and it last me for couple months. I use it as a meal replacement sometimes and it keeps me full and has 36 grams of protein.

@ryenday I'm sorry you don't see it this way but discouraging people from getting sucked into a MLM scam with overpriced products is supporting them much more than encouraging them to waste money on such products. Sorry if you think it's a bad thing to steer people away from it but in the long run we're doing them a big favour.5 -

It may indeed be a scam, and if so, I think you are giving a good warning. But OP seems sincere and has been polite in the face of hostility. That I admire. A polite post wishing her well and asking her if she has considered x,y,z and ending with why in your opinion her diet is likely to fail, and also including a scam warning would be one thing. But many posts went far beyond that.
I don’t care for meal replacement diets myself. I have seen such a diet work for one (singular) acquaintance, however, so I withhold judgment.6 -

It's natural for people to have opinions and I'm good with that, but I agree with you, there are nicer ways you can get the same message across. Which are probably more effective in the end!1 -

See, that's where I don't get it. It's nothing more than protein powder and some vitamins and minerals in fancy packaging.
For $400, that's almost a year and a half of me buying standard protein powder and a good multi-vitamin.
I get a tub for $45 at Costco and that last me a little over a month. Another $20 and that get's me 120 multi-vitamins.
^^ but all that is just a supplement to eating and nutrition. It's not my main portion and I have spent the last couple years training myself on portion control.

I do encourage them to learn how to eat portions of any food and count those calories accurately so they don't have a weight regain issue. This is something that just about any meal replacement company DOESN'T do because they know full well that if you relapse, you'll be back to use their product again.

While I don't advocate dieting for any of my clients, I also don't care what they are doing food consumption wise as long as they are staying in a moderate calorie deficit. I do encourage them to learn how to eat portions of any food and count those calories accurately so they don't have a weight regain issue. This is something that just about any meal replacement company DOESN'T do because they know full well that if you relapse, you'll be back to use their product again.

I personally don’t use or want to use any other method rather than eating less and moving more but I would never judge someone for their choices, live and let live! It's $400 A MONTH for low quality mlm products.
So if you read someone was starving themselves you wouldn't say anything??? It's not healthy or sustainable so of course we should say otherwise it makes us complicit.
Did she say anything about starving herself? Nope, or that it was costing too much? No, I don’t actually think she asked for advice at all, could be wrong though and not arguing the toss, her choices not yours.3 -

I needed to start somewhere and this is where I chose to start. I drink the shakes twice a day and then have a small meal. I also have small snacks throughout the day. I know what I need to work on to lose weight. For me, it's good food choices and portion control. I see Isogenix as a temporarily solution to help me lose weight while I can become more knowledgeable about food. Everyone needs to do what's best for themselves on this journey. If you are trying to lose weight, I support you 100%.7

I know it seems like people on here are just trying to rain on your parade. It's just that so many of us have already gone through all of this. Myself, I tried every fad diet known to man kind. It wasn't until I realized it was about calories in/calories out that I was able to be successful. I've been maintaining for over three years. I have met and seen so many people over the years, who have tried things like Isagenix or Beachbody shakes or Apple Cider Vinegar or whatever. I have yet to read or hear about a single one who has maintained any weight loss.10

The shake I drink is 200+ calories but I understand your point. It's a learning curve for me, so I'm trying to find healthy alternatives and will faze out shakes once I learn more about better alternatives. But I didn't get to 250+ with good eating habits. So while I learn different (better) habits I'm going to fill in the blanks with a shake here and there..6 -

I completely support you and I am doing Isagenix myself. I have tried every kind of method and that is what works best for me. Feel free to add me as a friend for support. Many people on MFP will criticize your methods because they think there is a one size fits all method to fitness which is certainly not the case. Keep doing what works best for you and forget about those naysayers!!4 -

There's a one size fits all to weight loss. Calorie deficit. No need to spend money on expensive woo to get there. Just eat less of the foods you enjoy.4
