Tricep dips, bicep/tricep press, etc. Ask a trainer at a gym, or look up arm exercises online. I do some at home using 5 and 8 lb weights. :)

Your start weight is close to where mine was and I have to say, just keep up with the cardio and general strength exercises, because spot reduction just plain doesn't work. I've lost about 1.5 inches from each arm since February (although I haven't measured in a while). It's slow, but I seem to be losing from other areas first.

Edit: Because I didn't actually answer your question. I'm doing P90X and there are a lot of different types of bicep curls and tricep exercises in the workout. Any program that has a combo of resistance and cardio should focus on arms a fair bit. In just 2 weeks of P90X my upper arms have gotten a lot nicer looking.

I have heard that the arms are one of the easiest to tone through daily push-ups. I cannot verify the validity of the statement since I have not looked it up officially but that is what I have heard! Good luck!

You will have to burn the fat off that is covering the muscles. To do this:

    1) Eat clean and drink lots of water, get plenty of protein and fiber
    2) Lift Heavy Weights that give you a full body workout to help burn fat http://www.answerfitness.com/150/full-body-workout-plan-workout-routines/
    3) HIIT

    4) PATIENCE - it will take a little while, but if you are consistent with the first 3, you'll get there.

Edited to add: Make sure you lift HEAVY weights. Forget the 5 and 8 lb weights, you want 20-25 lb dumbbells!

I use 2, 3 and 5 pound wrist and ankle weights at home. Sometimes I'll do traditional exercises and sometimes I'll just wear them around the house to kick up my housework by a notch. I've definitely noticed a difference.

    thanks everyone!
  • In boot camp we do shoulder burn-out at the end of each workout. We use two eight pound weights (one for each hand) and perform three sets of 15 to 20 of the following: bicep curl, upright row, lateral fly, overhead tricep extensions, and front arm raises. I try to do them every night before I go to bed on the nights I don't have boot camp. Seems to be working great! Good luck!

tricep dips, i forget what this is called but lift the weight behind you, and you can never go wrong with push ups.

Don't just focus on the arms....you need to lift weights that targets every body part so that you will be in proportion. Like others have said, you can't spot reduce and you need to build muscle all over in order to keep increasing the weight. Besides, there are so many benefits to lifting weights and not the 5 lb ones.
You will probably have to adjust your diet as well when incorporating weights.
  • Hi Ali! Remember Jeanna? She got me doing Wallies at night. I know we need to focus on all body parts but it doesn't hurt to focus a little more on specific things sometimes.

You just stand in front of a wall, position yourself comfortable and pretty much do push-ups against the wall. It's super easy at first so you can do a lot of them but if you push it a little (not in an unhealthy kind of way), you'll start to feel it.

A lot of people focus mainly on biceps and don't do much for triceps, but your triceps are actually larger (tri=3, bi=2). Anyways, my suggestion is to make sure you're training you triceps!
