Hello I'm new to this and could use some encouragement

I am a post menopausal woman with a blood disorder that caused me to have strokes about 1 1/2 years ago. I also have gained about 20+ pounds and am having a difficult time losing weight despite a lot of walking, warm weather cycling, water rowing and using a Power Plate for balance and additional calorie burn. Anyone my age (66 and soon to be 67) that is or has experienced the same? I don't know if the changes in my brain are preventing me to lose weight or medications that I now am required to take or what? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I watch my portions and have always eaten a Mediterranean diet with lots of veggies, fish and very low fat. Help!

Hello @kathy9326 weight loss is relatively straight forward, you need to eat less than you're burning. If over time you're not losing weight then you're eating at maintenance, watching your portions is not the same as calorie counting. Log your food accurately for a few weeks, with a food scale if available, and you might find you're eating more than you think.
Your medication may be causing water retention or causing an increase in appetite, but will not directly cause fat gain.0 -

Welcome @kathy9326 ! You mentioned Mediterranean diet: be careful with olive oil. It is healthier than some other fats, but contains a lot of calories.
Best way is to track you intake for a while with MFP and use a fitness tracker to estimate your burned calories.0
