It is confusing but I think, maybe just me, but if you have a fair amount of exposure to the military (US and foreign), it would have made more sense.
Specifications set by all militaries for any sort of "special" forces are based on studies (from years ago) of peak physical athletic performances of men. All SF were founded in the concept of the best of the best. Over the years, women have embraced higher physical performance training (then women did when the SF concept was initiated) which could lend to the achievement of a woman successfully graduating from such a program. I applaud any women in that sort of shape-I know their are some out there. However, unless political correctness takes over and standards are adapted for peak women's performance standards (a peak that in reality is lower than men), very few women can meet the standards. Even entering the program requires passing of advance physical achievement. I am actually OK with that.
I value a stronger military (physically and technically), not one that is politically correct. Not saying women cant and do not add a lot of value in several ways in support of those "special" forces. Helicopter pilots (used often in combat and for the SF people) for example, are fully integrated with capable and many of those women pilots have fought in the middle east (I know several). No matter how fit a woman may be and how capable to execute a mission in many ways, some physical aspects just don't seem to make sense. If I were in harms way, I would want to know they could physically carry me out, if necessary...for any distance. That is unlikely when the soldier is a woman.2 -
