hi i am a 43 year old male who up till now thought I could eat what I liked and as long as I exercised regulary wouldnt put on any weight and the extra pounds I had put on over the years would fall off aswell. I have been going to the gym 4-5 times a week but my weight has stayed the same my wife has told me about this site and as we are going on holiday end of september I thought why not give this a try. I am sceptic about this but I will give it my best shot.

I found this website on accident. I lost 120 pounds from 2009 - 2010 doing a medically supervised diet. Problem was that when I was eased into "real food", I was not retaught how to eat it, fix it, and shop for it. I spiraled out of control and now, I have gained 100 pounds back in 16 months and have reverted to old habits of bingeing. I have forgotten to put myself first, ruling my emotions with food. My life is so good in every other way. I want to be able to hike and camp with my boyfriend. I want to be able to run!!! I can do this. First baby goal, to have two good days in a row. First big goal, to get out of the 200 lb. range. Final goal, size 14-16 and peace!0

I am/was in the same boat. I could eat anything and everything and not worry about my weight. From about 35 onwards I noticed that this was no longer the case. No more pies and no more pizza
I lost 12lb at the end of last year but my eating habits were back to their old ways soon after. Curse you Häagen-Dazs and your delicious range of ice creams. Also, apparently the sticker on a large pack of M and M's is to seal the pack when you have had a handful and not for decoration.
I have, with the food tracking of MFP, managed to change my eating habits and lost a stone in weight. I now run on a regular basis and strength exercise.
Good luck in your journey, you will get plenty of support here.0 -

If you are honest with yourself on MFP, I have no doubt you will see positive changes. I find that it is so much harder to see the changes now that I am 42. I have been losing the weight, but it is so much slower than when I was younger. But, slow and steady will keep it off and I am focusing on staying healthy. Best of luck. You will learn so much here.0

I am in the same boat as you. I too could eat basically what I wanted due to being so active....never really had to worry about weight and when I did add on a couple pounds could get them off in no time.......however since I hit my late 40's the metabolism definitely slowed down and the pounds started to add up...when I went to the doctor for my yearly physicals I was aware I was adding an extra 5 pounds each year and even though I would increase the exercise and cut back my food I could not get these pounds off ....I finally realized my diet and what I was eating was the culprit and I needed to make a change to eat a better well balanced diet. MFP has definitely given me a great resource to figure this out. Between being able to track my daily food intake and the support of others at this site I am beginning to see success. Good luck with your journey and if you need support along the way feel free to friend me.0
