Hi there, I could do with some help, I’m currently training for my 3rd marathon but I’m a really fussy eater, typically don’t like a lot of foods that are good for you,
So if someone can help in anyway at all with foods, then if anyone wants any help with running/fitness I can try and help,
Only been running 2 & a bit years me and my other half’s achievements lmtscsu10hvc.jpeg

WOW! I am so impressed. I just started training for a 5k. Im doing the Couch to 5K program. I am not a good runner. I have no stamina but I have wanted to be one forever. I am now 53 and in decent shape but I cannot run for a long time. So, one of my resolutions this year is to run a 5k race. So far, so good in my training. Any advice for me?
As far as food goes for you, just try your best to eat whole foods. Stay away from the processed stuff the best that you can. The more whole foods you eat, the less of the junk you will want.

Hi there, well done on doing your couch to 5k, stick with it, don’t do anymore than it says, that way you’ll look forward to your training days rather than do too much and it feel like a chore, eventually it will become part of your life, if u can plan in your runs on your calendar, treat it like a job, it’s something u have to do, if u say I’ll do it later then something else always comes up and it doesn’t happen,
Have a look for a local running club that offers the couch to 5k our club have done it for 2 years now, it’s free to everyone, the other club runners help out so someone always has a running buddy, some of them beginners have now completed a half marathon and we’re all taking part in a marathon in may and doing it as a relay.
Don’t know if you’ve ever done slimming world but they always tell you to go to group, well it’s the same for running go to club runs it will keep u on track, your club will also support you so much,
Don’t know where you are but get to a park run on a Saturday morning if u can, they are great fun and free to do, x

if its your 3rd marathon then you have successfully fueled 2, so what do you want/need to change?

It’s not the running or marathon I want help with it’s help with eating better, if anyone can give me ideas like chilli and spag Bol where I can chuck my veg in, as if it’s on the side of my plate I can’t eat it, but if it’s mixed in with something else then great, but chilli and spag Bol gets a bit boring after a while x

    Thanks

I’m training for my 3rd full marathon too. I really find I need more protein in my diet and this means tuna and fish and shakes. Happy training.

Cool wall. I tend to just chuck medals and such in a drawer, and your approach is much nicer.

What about expanding your repertoire of pasta dishes that include vegetables? I often do (as a quick meal) a sautee of vegetables (often mushrooms too) in olive oil and then add meat (if I am including it, I'm actually cutting way back on meat these days) and perhaps some pine nuts or olives or whatever strong taste you enjoy (one example is sauteeing some mushrooms, zucchini, spinach, smoked salmon, a small amount of cut up olives, and feta). Mix in pasta at the end.

Or a stir fry -- similarly sautee a variety of vegetables and some other ingredients and then add to rice.

Wide variety of vegetable soups would be good this season.

You could experiment with something like an Indian dal or other curry dishes if those spices appeal to you.

Also if you haven't, changing up how you cook veg may make a difference as to how good they taste to you plain -- roasted is usually delicious.

I like to mix cold and cooked vegetables in a salad, and with a tasty dressing (which does not have to be high cal) you may enjoy them more. I enjoy Asian salads with a spicy dressing made with soy sauce, sriracha, and lime juice.

(I'm also training for my third full. The cold weather got me off track earlier in the year so I'm a bit behind.)

I like the idea of more curry like recipes, I need strong flavours to take the taste of the vegetables away
    Thank you
    And good luck
