Getting Bored Of The New Lifestyle?

Hey pals, im currently going through what I always used to go through on a new lifestyle change in the past. Getting bored and on the verge of derailing myself off the path i have set. I'm an emotional eater and tend to eat just to spice up my life a little bit and at the moment I feel like a Zombie. It all feels kind of boring (even though i am losing the fat).
I have a no tracking day at the end of the month (cheat day) where I plan to eat what im craving and such, but not sure what to do up to then to brighten up my days a little bit! If anyone else has gone through the same scenario and you beat it can you let me know what you did please? Any tips or suggestion will be appreciated!

Eat what you're craving now. Just eat less of it. Use your imagination.
You can eat whatever you want as long as it fits your calorie goal.13 -
Why aren't you eating what you like now?
You just need to eat smaller portions to fit your calories.
If you don't you'll quit and stay heavier than you are happier with. Weight loss shouldn't be torture.9 -

Yeah I guess you are both right, I've always come from the mindset it's all unhealthy and i shouldn't be eating it ALL lol (probably why I've failed in the past), I will plan to include some of it in my eating plan tomorrow and see how it goes. I think my main fear has been If i eat one bad thing it'll lead into an all out binge...but i think if i keep the mindset of im not depriving myself and if i want it again, i shall have it tomorrow (but under my calories!)7 -
Are you eating at too high a calorie deficit?
as the others have said, eat what you like, just have less of it.1 -

No one food is healthy or unhealthy. It's the over all diet that matters.
I love a bit of ice cream or a packet of chips/crisps at a night time. That doesn't get rid of the 10 portions of fruit and veg and lean proteins I ate during the day.5 -

Nope I've made sure I'm not depriving myself I've set a calorie goal of 2100 and typically end each day at 1800, i may just use the extra 300 i'm not using for cravings.4 -
So @Falklang with that extra 300 cals how is your weight doing? are you losing..are you maintaining?0

This, so much this! I got back on track December 27th of this year. Since then I have lost 7 lb. Since then I have also enjoyed multiple glasses of wine, two bowls of ice cream... One was two servings, one was one and a half servings, movie theater popcorn, two Rice Krispies Treats, 2 servings of Swedish Fish, a delicious creme brulee, two cheeseburgers... I made some cuts here & there... to cut one thing out so that I could have something else.... I worked out at the gym a few times... I worked what I wanted into my plan for the day.
It just requires thought and deliberation... What I have cut out for the most part is impulse eating. Eating on a whim has always been my downfall. Not yesterday!
I wanted a Dunkin Donuts Black Angus steak egg and cheese on a bagel. I was out and about and I was hungry. The bagel could be my lunch and afternoon snack combined because it is 670 calories. Perfectly fine. I could do it and still stay on track. I know it's a crappy sandwich but I really wanted it LOL.
Then I realized that I would probably not be able to have my glass of wine last night and stay within my goals if I had that bagel... Unless I cut back on my planned supper. Which I did not want to do.. Decisions decisions.
I finally decided to have one of my Lean Cuisine meals that was in the freezer at work for 240 calories.
And then I had a Rice Krispies treat last night when I got home and finished off the day with my glass of wine. Very happy with my choices.

Don’t stop eating food you like just make it fit your day. You’re leaving 300 yummy cals on the table every day. Eat some chocolate. Eat some bacon. Eat some cheese or something.4

If it's something you can't stick to, it's not a lifestyle change, it's a temporary fix.

You've been losing so you can enjoy those 300 extra cals without any feeling of guilt... eat things you love and keeping going, you are doing great1

Amen to this. I save 200-300 calories for dessert every night! Usually chocolate or ice cream.3 -
It doesn't harm your weight loss efforts to eat what you crave. Log it accurately and stay within your calorie budget.2
-
300 calories = a slice of pizza or a pretty big brownie or a serving of seriously decadent ice cream. Dude. Eat it, still lose weight, be happy because your lifestyle change lasted longer than 10 days!7

It's pretty common for people to want to white-knuckle it through losing weight by following strict diets, cutting out all the "bad foods", and so on. I totally get that! Being "on a diet" stinks and I want to be the new, smaller, healthier me ASAP! The problem is that the smaller your body gets, the fewer calories you need to maintain your size (unless you also increase your amount of activity, but let's leave that aside for now). So if you have a lot of weight to lose, there's going to be a pretty significant difference between the way you ate before you lost weight and the way you'll need to eat after you've lost the weight if you don't want to regain everything you lost. This means changing the way you eat for the rest of your life, not just the next few months.
So long story short, if you're unhappy with the way you're eating now, you can either try and white-knuckle it until you lose that weight and then figure out how to eat less for the rest of your life, or else start figuring out those long-term changes now. Maybe the first few things you try won't work, but that's okay! The worst thing you can do is to give up. Good luck - you can do this!7 -
The problem with saving your indulgences until a certain day is that it makes the rest of the time -- regular life -- seem like penance. This isn't an ideal mindset.
Do what everyone is saying: eat what you love now. Make it fit.
Life is too short, and the variety too great, to eat boring food.3 -
I'm on 1200 calories. Today for lunch I had 1/2 a portion of beef brisket without the bread, a salad and half an order of fries. Met my goals and my cravings.3
-
When I feel the boredom coming on (and it does happen), I try and set a new challenge for myself. Sometimes this is trying new recipes or a new workout habit or something like that.4
-
Another good rule of thumb to help keep yourself on track after having pizza or some other "bad" food...is make sure your next meal is really healthy (i.e. lean protein with veggies etc). I do this to help prevent myself for having an indulgence turn into an all-day binge.3
-
I don't think of any food as bad anymore. Just some have more calories or less calories or more protein or less protein Etc than others. They're all good if they taste good. That's helped me a lot in enjoying getting to a healthy weight.2
-
Except eggplant and raw oysters. Those will always, always always be bad6

^ It is.
It's also pretty common for those same people to crash and burn long before they reach their goals because they don't get the immediate (and usually unrealistic) results they hoped for, and what they're doing isn't sustainable in the long term.
The most important factors in long term success are patience and persistence.7 -

This should be a forever lifestyle change. Can you see eliminating favorite foods 29 days a month, and eating them just on the last day....forever?
I eat some king of food I love everyday. I've also given up some things (because I found them not worth the calories to me). But a "no tracking" day doesn't help you learn anything. Log food you love (too). Log food you are craving (too) and then use that as the justification for elimination.
Example - if I want cheesecake, then I will log cheesecake. I'll look at the calories - holy crap! That's the justification for making it a super special splurge, once in a great while treat.3 -

i eat what i want and make it fit. i eat normal foods.
this week ive had fish tacos, chicken and sausage gumbo, a bbq pineapple chicken thing, french bread pizza, chicken enchiladas, home made italian bread, cinnamon rolls, a chicken and zucchni noodle.... thing i tossed together and i dont know what else.
and i keep right around 1200 cals/ day and all that was done without extra exercise calories added in. oh, and chocolate, many days.2
