Why MFP friends are so important...

I've been trying to lose weight pretty much since my son was born last May. I've tried eating healthier, I've (sadly) in desperation (and depression) tried starving myself, even though I knew that it wouldn't work. The first time I used MFP, I didn't get too much into the community aspect of it, I just used it as a calorie counter. With just over 40 pounds left to lose, I need some serious motivation.
This time around, I'm done playing games. I'm counting calories on every tidbit that makes it's way past my lips, and making sure to stay under my calorie intake as much as possible. I went to the gym today for the first time in over a month and burned a decent amount of calories for being as out of shape as I am.
I tell my husband, my sister, my mom, my friends how much I've burned, how well I'm eating, that I'm staying healthy, and they're happy for me. But when my MFP status says I just burned x amount of calories doing x kind of exercise, or I was under my calorie goal for the day, the amount of support that comes with that makes me feel so amazing. Having people who are going through the exact same journey, who understand the joy of exercising so we can eat more goodies (I mean...whaaat?), it's a special kind of camaraderie, and I couldn't be more thankful for this incredible site. I've yet to have a negative experience with ANY of you on here, you're all so kind and helpful and I love reading stories and blogs. It's so exciting!
So I encourage all of you to stay active on the boards, make friends, because when it comes down to it, when we need the support the most, we have a 24/7 support group right here.
Keep up the hard work everyone!

MFP is the best! I love getting the support and feedback and try to be there for my friends, too.0

I agree too!! Without all of the support, I don't think I would be doing as well!!0

I so totally agree! These people are really here for you when you need it to keep going and when you succeed. It has been the most amazing thing to have someone else get it that I have terror having to go to boston pizza for lunch (not my choice) or that I'm embarrassed that I weigh myself 4 times a day but will do it anyway:blushing: You feel others' pain when it's hard and when good stuff happens it's like it's happening to you. I love it here.0

Most definitely! If it wasn't for the success threads and the fact that so many other people are here, and are so kind, I probably would have dropped out again! Also, the Mii in your profile picture looks exactly like mine, hahaha.I so totally agree! These people are really here for you when you need it to keep going and when you succeed. Oh my gosh I know! The terror and the pain and the good stuff, we all live vicariously through one another. It's like MFP is a complete hive mind, haha!0
