Hi I’m a 5ft 2inch 46yr old woman at 200lbs I have put all my details into the app & it gave me 1460 calories to have per day to lose weight I have been doing this for about 2 months now but some days I find I’m not reaching that target of 1460 calories as my macros goes over the carbohydrates so I cut back the calories to make sure I stay within the macros..Am I doing the right thing???

Thanks teacupsandtoning I did read something like what your saying about calories & I’ve asked my son for advice as he’s just qualified as a personal trainer he says the same thing just to concentrate on my calories in & out. I’ve been doing this for 2 months now & have lost 16lbs so far but not lost anything since before Christmas I was just a bit confused as to why that was but I’ll give that a go & not worry too much about the macros thanks so much for replying x2

How much weight have you lost in the 2 months? That'll tell you if you're on the right track or not!0

I’ve lost 16lbs in the 2 months so I guess I’m on the right track was just a bit confused about the macros as I was told not to go over the daily recommendations but now I’ve been set straight on not worrying too much about that & just concentrate on the calories I’ll be fine thanks for your input x1

The FDA's macro recommendations are, as far as I can tell, designed to be the least wrong for the most people. This country includes tons of people who need food stamps to buy groceries, who have no meaningful nutritional education, and so on. The FDA's goal is to set a standard that most people can meet and be fine on. That doesn't make it the only way to be healthy, or even the best way for your individual body.0

8 lbs a month is actually pretty fast, depending on how much total weight you have to lose! Calories are king for weight, eat all of them, plus at least some of your exercise cals. Many folks here look at protein and fiber goals as a minumum, some look at fat as a minimum too, and let carbs fall where they may. Good luck!2
