Help I love to cook and I love to eat.

    maybe cook smaller portions (which can be tough), or after you cook prepackage food for the next few days as set meals to help, also cut down slowly, any life style change wont happen over night, also have your family do it too! it helps when someone else does it with you (unfortunately you cant always count on them 100% of the time).

    Schedule and plan and prelog your meals, and portion them out before you cook or eat. When you shop, only buy what you need for your planned meals. Practice waiting for your meals. Cooking can be a great way to heighten your anticipation and appreciation for your meal.

    I weigh my food, calculate in my fitness pal and make healthier calculations. I am walking more so I can eat a bit more! and not having 2nd helpings. If I want a pizza I just adjust my daily allowance,and have lower calorie meals during the day. i have a chocolate every night.

    I cook all meals too. How long have you been on mfp? I've been on here since June 2016 & am down 50lbs. I found it an adventure changing some things & making them taste good & finding substitutions & trying new foods. For some things that have more calories than I want, I eat a smaller portion & add things that fill me up along with it, like veggies, salad, lower calorie bread and/or I have a snack right after, usually non fat plain greek yogurt with a little flavoring added, like powdered chocolate p butter, or swiss miss lite hot coco mix, or "meal replacement" powder. I also drink tea or water with my meals & eat slow. I weigh everything

    I find that enjoying cooking helps me. I focus my interest in eating into cooking foods that fit my goals and trying new things or to recreate flavors healthfully. Today's experiment (so, so, but I just started -- more specifically it was very tasty but not exactly the taste I was going for) was a curry with lentils and greens and butternut squash and cauliflower.
