Flipping hard this dieting lark

Hi All , just started using the app on my phone . Really helpful and gives me lots of focus. Thought not drinking alcohol and cutting out bread , cheese , chocolates , crisps , pop etc would make me lose weight automatically .. doesn’t seem the case . I’m 42 , just under 16st ( 5ft 11 and ex rugby player so never been skinny ) want to get down to my fighting weight of 14st ... any helpful ideas more than welcome .. cheers Scott

    Welcome to MFP :) Logging will make you see where your calories come from and help you make informed choices. Log honestly and failthfully, hit your target, and you will succeed.
  • The only way to loose weight is to eat less calories than your maintainance calories. It has nothing to do with the type of food you eat, although some foods are obviously higher in calories than others. It's important to have a balanced diet, don't cut out food that you like because you deem them as unhealthy. They are only unhealthy if you have too much of them. Use my fitness pal and it will tell you how many calories you need to eat to loose weight . And focus on having a balanced diet, including some of the snacks that you enjoy as they make up part of a balanced diet and without them it's hard to stick to the plan. Best of luck.   • I've calculated your maintainance calories based on the information you have provided and aslong as you eat under 2099 calories a day you should loose weight.
