Hi there! So I’m new and I’ve been on here a month and have lost 7lb. I am taller than 95-97% of women at 5’9.5”-5’10” so my goals are a little different than someone who is 5’2”. What is your goal weight and what is your routine ?

I'm not a lady, but I'm also very tall. My goals were always to lose more than the typical 2 pounds per week, a I carry much more weight than average. I also burn more calories just being heavier, so my workout goals were always higher. I've lost 125 pounds, which sounds like a lot, but not crazy for a 6'7" guy. I run every morning for 5-6 miles, at least until hurting my foot recently. I eat 2,000 calories a day and have about 4 pounds to go. I hope any of that rambling is useful to you.10

I am 5’9, and starting weight was 248.6...Goal weight 160. I have been at it for 8 days and I’m now at 239.2 ... here’s a before pic for reference...3

Also realized tall people generally carry their weight differently - so sizes: currently size 12 jeans and a large or XL top.7 -

Also, she looks pretty damn good at 248 pounds, so 160 sounds very reasonable.22 -
I’m 5’9”, starting at 240, gonna see how I look and feel at 175 and go from there.6
-
I’m 5’10” I’m at 210 and plan to hit 155.
No, 160 isn’t ‘heavy’ for 5’9”. It’s smack dab in the middle of the alleged healthy BMI range. I didn’t see her asking for an opinion.
Edited to say Okay maybe not smack DAB in the middle.12 -
I'm 5'8" and currently weigh 17st12lbs (250lbs) but I want to be 10st 10lbs (150lbs) so I need to lose 7st2lbs (100lbs) so I have a very long way to go!3

Hi, I'm 5'10 weighed 250 on the first of January. Weighed 241 today. I love the site. I have owned a catering business for years so I am cooking some good healthy meals but am not excercising yet. What is your plan?2
-
I'm 5'10. Starting weight 155, goal weight is 134. It's where I was a few years ago and i stayed within a few pounds and then in the last year and a half or so the scale started creeping up. I run, do spin, yoga, a boot camp class, and lift weights. And I do a lot of hiking.4

I'm 5'8 and just lost 64 lbs and planning on to lose about 25 to 30 more.... Just breaking into the 100s for time since I was a little kid. Feels good too be out of the 200s. Finally!!7

I'm 5'9" and started at 173 in early November. My goal is 140, and I'm 1/3rd of the way there (I've lost 11 lb of 33). In good weather (which we have little of in winter in Maine) I run. I do step aerobics a couple of times a week, which I love, and zumba and strength training one day a week each, which I'm lukewarm about (the workouts don't even make me break a sweat.. I think they're geared toward elders, which is pretty much who lives where I do). I may buy a step and just do step aerobics at home for those days. On weekends, I'm on the recumbent bike. I've been tracking all my calories here, and try not to eat many of my exercise calories (MFP thinks my baseline should be 1370). Feel free to add me!1

Sup girl! Another tall lady here. Okay so I’m 5’10” and I want to be about 155. I am currently 173. At 155 I’ll be about a size 6. I’m a size 10 now.
Just saying all bodies are different. When I was in my 20’s I was 130. Now that would be too thin for me. I am totally satisfied as a size 6.
Also, I do spin classes and free weights.4 -
I'm 5'11" and my current goal is to get under 200 lbs. I'll re-evaluate at that point and decide how much further I want to go. I started a year ago at 300 and am at 233 right now.9

That's so crazy, my starting weight and height are almost exactly the same as yours, but while you're in size 12 jeans I'm in size 20, and while you're in a L or XL top I'm in 2XL!!!!3 -
I am 5'11'', 148ish, and (allegedly) at about 27% body fat. I wear a size 10 pants. I'd like to get my body fat % down to around 20%. I don't care what the number on the scale is.
I do Crossfit, kickboxing, and some beachbody programs at home (not a coach/not looking to sell! lol).1 -

This guy's been trolling the forums all day. Just ignore him lol. Everyone keeps reporting him and he has comments deleted all over the place.2 -

Hey there. I’m 5’10 and currently 225 (size 14 jean) (305 is my high weight, 205 is going to be a celebratory event). I’ve been off MFP for nearly a year, and I’m super proud of myself for maintaining during that time. I’m ready to put my nose to the grindstone and make it to ONEderland, then reevaluate my next goal.
I’m not a gym rat, I do YouTube workouts at home (if anything), and will be getting back on 8 wheels in two weeks (yay roller derby)! Seriously y’all, add me if you want a MFP friend. I’m good at keeping up and commenting with timeline posts and would love to have some other taller than average folk to encourage me along the way.6 -
Thank you all for this thread! I'm 5'11.5 and 219lbs. Even though I know I shouldn't weigh what my friends do who are of average height, I am still often frustrated. My goal is 190 because I do not like the way I look when I very thin. In 2004, I was 290lbs and then got down to 180 with WW and MFP. I now know that it is because of MyFitnessPal that even after 2 kids, 14 years and 4 moves with my military husband, I am at this weight and not back to 290. Feel free to add me as I am open to anyone who can understand the challenges and the gift that is being tall. I appreciate the inspiration everyone!5

Hey everyone! My plan is pretty vague I suppose. I started at 1200 net calories but I bumped it up to 1500 net. I’m losing 0.5-1lb a week as I want to. I haven’t logged my weight in about two weeks ish. For exercise I do cardio 30-60 min 6 days a week and I just started lifting 3x per week. I don’t have a set food plan.. I eat what I want in smaller portions. I don’t want to post my weight but I’d hope to lose 15-25lb. good luck everyone and thanks so much for your insight0

Im a female and about 5'9 & 165 now, but when I was working with a coach @ 160-162 lbs I had my body fat % monikered....since I have a lot of muscle (I weight train and do cardio), my body fat was very low...so weight looks differently on everyone due to bone structure and amount of muscle. When I did get down to 145-149 before weight training, I looked too skinny and unhealthy3 -
I’m 5’10, 167lb!
Glad to see there are some taller chicks on here. Feel free to add me, im new on here!
My goal is to lengthen/tone my legs, also drop some weight to what I use to be 148lb.
I started pole dancing again last year. I hate the gym so this was a good alternative. Great thing is at the time I don’t realise I’m working out until the next day when I feel it. It has also helped me quit smoking (2months now) and has made exercising much easier, so now I’ve started doing 1hr home workouts.3 -
Hey! 5’ 10.5” here. Currently 224 and looking for an end weight of 155. Haven’t seen below 195 in over 22 years- will see how this goes.

Not a lady and not overly tall but 6'2 and over 300, I find it good and interesting to see people who are tall discuss the different sort of challenges we face, its not necessarily about weight on our frames, we look at different stats.1

I'm female and 5'10'' tall, currently at 190lbs (started at 208 lbs a couple of months ago) and just found out about this page. My aim is 155 lbs by the end of May so I think it's quite achievable and specially now that I can register exactly what I eat and drink.3

I’m 5’10”, large framed according to bone measurements, and started at 248, size 20/22, 3 years ago. I’m now at 185, size 12/14.
I have several goals:
- Get out of plus-sized clothing. Done.
- Reach a lower-risk body fat measurement. Done.
- Reach a lower-risk waist/height measurement. Done.
- Be able to participate in recreational athletic events, like 5 or 10ks and sprint tris. Doing regularly now.
- Reach a normal BMI, which happens for me at 171. Next! 14lbs to go.
Eta: My daily (pre-exercise) calorie maximum is 1800. That’s maintenance for my goal weight, so I’m losing slowly and steadily.3 -
