Hi
I’ve been doing this for a while but don’t understand a few things. Where does it say calories burned for the day? I don’t have premium, also the only exercise I get is my steps. I’ve lost 28 lbs in 6 months so I’ve got to be doing something right.
Thank you

Have you got a tracker synced with MFP? If its not synced then your steps wont be added here.
If not then unless you manually add exercise the calories given by MFP when you set up your account/settings wont change.

Do you have a step tracker connected to your account (whether it's your phone or an activity band)? If you don't then you would need to connect whatever method you're using. They will show up under the Exercise section as a Calorie Adjustment.

Alternatively, if your steps are consistent every day you could just increase your activity level in the Guided Setup.

I have the app on my iPhone. I have my steps on there. It will give me a few calories each day I walk a lot. Is that what I burned?

No. What you see is your 1000 calorie goal (too low) and then any exercise adjustment at that given time. Your tracker app should give you an estimated burn.

Or you can go to a TDEE calculator and estimate it by putting in your stats.

Do a google search for "exercise calories burned" and see what you get. There are many online resources with comprehensive databases listing scientifically derived calories burned for a very wide range of activities.

Also, don't waste your time on TDEE. This site uses NEAT.

What do your previous days look like in regards to food eaten and calories burned? No need to show it here but take a look for comparison. It COULD be that your tracker hasn't fully synced and is just estimating because the day has not ended yet. I could also be that you haven't eaten any food period so far today and that is all the tracker will "allow" without calories eaten.

I state the latter because I use S-Health for steps and it syncs periodically throughout the day. On January 1, I decided to quit tracking food for a while. When I did this, because MFP shows 0 calories eaten, S-Health would not add my calories burned via steps. I solved that little "problem" by doing a quick add of 1500 calories per day and S-Health started adding the calories burned (steps) to MFP again.

You can manually override NEAT by entering your custom goal, and then deleting exercise. It's not that uncommon here.

And if the OP can figure out how to manually enter in 1000 calories as a goal, she can certainly figure out how to use TDEE here.

Collectingblues I wouldn’t have asked if I could find it myself!

I am trying to determine why 1000 calories a day? This is lower than the MFP recommendation.

The image provided show 5 calories worth of steps/exercise, enough of an adjustment to be over activity level, so the calories burned extra above NEAT is 5 calories.

This tells me the app being used is syncing with MFP or is this a manual entry? What am I missing?
