pizza is a good thing (and it is not on my cheat list.... it is on my 'healthy' eating list
Granddaughter is happy!0 -
Next time you guys feel like it. Make your own! Much yummier and lower in cals too!0
-
I love doing this every now and again too!
It's certainly more expensive than Domino's, but heaps healthier and way more filling.
Don't sweat one delicious treat, teens. You will burn that pizza off in no time0 -
I make my own pizza and it's nowhere near unhealthy. I had half of an entire 14 inch pizza last night that was like 550 calories or something...and it was real pizza dough, not some weird pita crap or something made of cauliflour.
There are always going to be healthier options, you just have to search for some recipes.0 -
The pre packaged pizza is evil (as are all pre packaged, prepared foods). Sends my blood glucose level through the roof!
There are many other healthier pizza options out there though.
Not sure how the take-out restaurant pizza will affect anything though. We don't eat it often.0 -
I found a pizza place in town who makes a white Garden Pizza with fresh ingredients in season in the garden. He has it only in the summer and then it's gone until next year. This week it was fresh tomatoes, zucchini and onion. I also asked him what cheese he used and his has little sodium. He makes mine thin crust and uses less cheese then normal and no tomato sauce (salty). The mom and pop places can sometimes make it the way you like. I just explained my situation and he was very accomadating.0

I love making my own pizza at home! You can put whatever you want on it and there are just so many ways you can make it. I love cooking it on the grill especially.0

I plan for pizza at LEAST once a week. Occasionally more often than that. It's never slowed my progress beyond maybe slight water retention from sodium.
Just had it for lunch. Half of a DiGiorno Rising Crust Buffalo Chicken pizza. 850 calories for half the pie and worth every bite.0 -
Proper Italian pizza, with a 2 mm thin base, lots of tomato and very little cheese, stone baked, is a very healthy food. Deep pan, American style, fried pizza with 10oz of cheese on top is very bad for you, obviously.
I only eat Italian pizza, in Italy, and don't have a whole one. It's one of the healthiest things my children eat tbh.0 -
We have fallen in love with Dr. Oetker pizzas. They really don't have that many calories compared to others.0

I eat pizza often, too. Not once a week, but close to it. I love pizza and could never give it up! It hasn't hindered me either, except for water retention but that goes away in a day or two and it's worth it!0 -
I agree with the make your own. They even have whole wheat pizza crusts that are already made. I love pizza, but try not to eat it too often. When I order it I usually get the thin crust. Even with the same amount of cheese it reduces the calories by almost half!0

That's the kind that I make. I love my pizza stone. I have a fantastic recipe for pizza margherita which even my husband, the Domino's cheese pizza fiend, really likes. So good and very healthy. I think pizza does truly get a bad rap because of how Americans normally cook it!0 -
I buy the Celeste Individual Pizza for one when I have a pizza craving. The Zesty Cheese flavor is 350 calories for the whole thing and it's just the right amount. Matter of fact..... had one for lunch today!
I figure it this way.... if we give up EVERYTHING we love to eat..... we won't stay on our "journey" for very long. So every once in awhile, I have one of those "special" treats and just figure it into my daily log so I'll still be within my calorie allotment.0 -
I make my own little "pizzas" all the time! I use a low carb tortilla, pizza sauce, turkey pepperonis, and onions or spinach. I pop it in the oven and I have a "healthy" little pizza.0

Pizza isn't bad. Overeating it is. If I go to the pizza shop. I get 1 maybe 2 slices with cheese or veggies and a large salad. Or make it at home and control the ingredients. Lots of markets even sell whole wheat pizza crust. I can eat pizza without binging so occasionally I have a slice or 2. I just keep in mind if I get one with red sauce it's likely to contain a lot of sodium and plan for it.0

make your own and load up with veggies.....or buy 'light` frozen ones!0

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE PIZZA AND ITS THE ONE THING I AM NOT GIVING UP! However I do not buy the frozen ones because of the sodium. I try and stick with Round Table vegi varities and Hot Moma's both in Seattle/Tacoma area. I have pizza once or twice a week I also only drink water though. Plus I get my workouts in.0

I loveeeeeee pizza...I but the thin crust ones and then put veggies on it....or I make my own sometimes...I had 2 slices today...but haven't had it a a while...so it was my treat
I believe that you should not deprive yourself of anything because it makes you want it more, especially if it's something you like!!
Enjoy!!0 -
I have pizza every Friday. Home made of course with a tasty sourdough crust, home made pizza sauce, and 2% cheese. Sometimes I am a little reckless and toss some pepperoni or canadian bacon on top. I also make sure to eat a light lunch that day so I can fit it into my calories. I don't gain weight from it, and it is so much better than frozen.0

Pizza is definately on my healthy list! That is as long as I do not over indulge! but if you make or buy a decent crust, then top with veggies...bake in the oven it turns out awesome! Now that I am vegan I opt for no cheese which lessens the calories enormously...and the pizza is still very tasty!0

Oh no! There is nothing worse than a pizza covered in stuff. Pizza should be margherita only, with minimal cheese, and a bit of olive oil. Vegetables can go on the side.0 -
I eat pizza about once a fortnight mainly because it is a family favorite. I make my own base and use healthy toppings. I used to eat way too much but now I eat two pieces slowly and really savor them and fill up on salad. That is completely satisfying for me and calorie wise it is similar to any other dinner. Also low in sodium. I am not cutting any foods I want out of my diet (as opposed to those I reslise I don't really like anymore) as I am in this for the long haul (life) but I'm trying to bring good sense and balance back - for my whole family.0

Would love to have the recipe for your sourdough crust!0
