Think all calories are the same?

Just something fun I wanted to put together to show the exact number of calories when compared to each other. The top photo is of a Burger King Whopper, medium fries (salted) and a 22 oz soda. The bottom photo is of the same number of calories but using healthier meals, snacks and treats. For those who think they can't eat enough for only 1,600 calories each day... think again!
A calorie is a calorie when used to describe units of energy. But... all calories are not created equal! Enjoy the visual.

LOVE THIS! LOVE LOVE LOVE!0

Most days I'd gladly chose the second picture.
However there are days I'll gladly take the first picture and not eat anything else all day.
lol0 -
LOL, I have the 1.30 oz Dove dark chocolate bar multiple times a week.0

THIS IS GREAT! Awesome visual! :happy:0

Oh my gosh I'm so thick... I wondered what people were talking about when they said 'Dove'... for UK-ers it's 'Galaxy'!
Duh I feel stupid!

Yum! The bottom picture looks so gooooood! Thanks!0

This stuff is just taken from my own meal plans. Just imagine what you can come up with! Everything in the bottom photo is accounted for in that calorie count too including the cheese on the Denver omelette, the cherry tomatoes on the grilled chicken salad and even the vinaigrette dressing not shown on the salad.
Get creative!!!0 -
The bowl in the second row is one mozzarella and roasted garlic chicken sausage link and steamed broccoli. NUM!0

The bottom picture definately looks much more filling!!0

That is an awesome comparison! I'll be honest, I almost didn't click to topic because I was afraid it was going to be one of those "preachy" posts but I was pleasantly suprised. Thank you for the illustration without doing the "I know better than you" bit that sometimes happens. I'm not saying "you" in particular but we've all read an off-putting post or two:)0

I was wondering what that was.. It looks great. I've always been a big fan of italian sausage with broccoli, so I'll try that very soon!!0 -

Some things in moderation of course. When I'm craving chocolate... I just plan the rest of my day around it. LOL0 -

Oops, should have said 1,300 calories not 1,600. I could add more treats (or yummy bread) to a 1,600 cal day!!!0 -
I just wish that all of the bottom picture was a cheap as the top picture...lol0

How cheap is BK really... if you have to buy three of their meals each day? The top photo only shows what people eat for one meal. The bottom photo shows breakfast, lunch, dinner, 3 snacks and 2 treats. When purchasing some items in bulk, it is actually cheaper to eat like the bottom photo.0 -
Thank you, I appreciate you taking the time for the post. Is the item above the dove cheerios (mini frankfurters)? How many are there in the picture? Haven't eaten them for years!0

The item above the Dove bar are baby carrots. To the right of the carrots are dry roasted unsalted almonds.0 -

for reals. burger king, and other fast food places are like 8 dollars a meal. maybe more depending on what you get. that's ****ED up lol. i could get a whole carton of eggs plus bread plus vegetables for that lol0 -
Also think of the healthcare costs of eating "cheap" food. BK may be cheap in the short term, but not over time.0

Those are great sausages and come in different flavors..I prefer mine with brown rice..yum~!0 -
I've totally noticed this. I only normally eat around 1200 or 1300 calories a day. Some days I'm munching practically all day. If I go out to dinner or slip out to McDonalds, I eat most my calories in one sitting. We really try to eat at home for this reason.0

love it! Thanks for putting this up x0
