Hey friends! I recently (9 days ago) slipped on ice and broke my tailbone. I know rest is important but I’m craving some type of physical activity. Anyone have any exercise suggestions that I can do from a seated position at home? Or stretches to help heal the muscles surrounding my coccyx? Anyone tried swimming with a broken tailbone?
Thanks! :)

I would ask your orthopedist what they recommend. I would think as with any broken bone rest would be key especially in the first few weeks.

I have swum having broke my tail bone 3 times over the years. Everybody is different, but it could be worth trying. You could try water walking and water jogging classes also.

Oh my God that hurts so much! I have a complete pars defect, so the little bones on top of my sacrum fractured. It's been nearly a year and I'm just now able to do more than just walk. Swimming is probably the best, just don't push too hard too soon. I had a real hard time sitting, but I purchased a balance ball and some small 3lb. weights and I could do some arm exercises. Anything heavier than that and I felt like my spine was going to poke through my skin. The balance ball and some therabands were probably the most I could do at first, aside from floating in a pool. Just remember, if it hurts don't do it. That was the best advice anyone could have given me. I was pushing too hard and only causing more inflammation, so actually resting was hard for me, but It started the healing process. Everyone is different. A physical therapist may be able to suggest some exercises for you. Best of luck and I really hope that you heal quickly!
