I’m currently trying to lose weight and although working out is just like 30% and food is 70% i want to do it but i can’t, i hate it. I like dancing but I’m too insecure to sign up for classes because I’m fat. Any tip?

You literally don't have to work out at all if you don't want to. Just maintain a caloric deficit to lose weight.
Working out is for health.9 -
Losing weight is 100% food. Eat less than you burn and you'll lose weight.
Exercise if for health/strength.
As for dance classes, stop being afraid to do something you love. This life is too short.13 -
If you hate it, don't do it. Buy a food scale. Weigh and log everything you eat. Stay within the calories this website gave you, and you will lose weight.
As for being insecure about going to class - No one is paying attention to you. They are there to work on themselves. You may find super supportive, nice people there. Depending on how bad you want to reach your goal, you may have to just pull up your big girl panties and do it. But you don't HAVE to exercise to lose weight. It's all about the calories.9 -
Exercise is good for your health but not necessary for weight loss.
That said, I say sign up for a Zumba class. I know you said you feel ashamed but once you get over the hurdle of the first class it will get easier. You're far more likely to stick with an exercise routine if it's something you enjoy. Good luck!7 -

This is true but you can also dance at home! Either to your own music or there are a bunch of dance workouts on YouTube.9 -

This is a great point!2 -
Do the active things that you hate least, whatever they are. Every step counts!4

What exactly do you hate? I hate treadmills at the gym and despise the elliptical, but love walking in the woods, snowshoeing, gardening, swimming, etc.
I hate group exercise classes, but love doing yoga at home by myself.0 -

I hate group exercise classes, but love doing yoga at home by myself.
And I hate working out at home, but love going to the gym and lifting heavy.
Everybody is different. OP, finding an "exercise" you love is key. Trying to force yourself to do something you hate will not be sustainable.7 -
find something you like to do, I can go all day, I mix it up every day and do different things, its quite fun!0

While I agree with comments above. You definitely don't have to work out to lose weight (it's probably 80-90% diet), but if you want to move at a faster pace and see results show up a little quicker physically, just even 30 minutes of walking each day will help achieve that.
You don't have to work out like a pro-athlete like you see on TV or even on here. Just try to get in some walking each day, just even 20 minutes at first will make a difference.
I, like you, hate working out, but I do realize its necessary for cardiovascular health in the long run. But again walking will suffice and once you get to a size you feel comfortable with, you can start taking dance classes.
Right now maybe you can do some zumba at home or another dance video you can probably look up on YT.3 -
buy some zumba dvd's or Cize, they are dancing workouts you can do at home. I hated working out, but made myself, started with Jillian Michaels dvd's (20-30 minutes per workout) then moved to p90x, now I run and lift. Still some days I dont want to, but to me it makes weight loss easier, and its good for me.0

Everyone already said it but it's worth repeating - you don't have to workout to lose weight. I have found that exercise is more important in my life as I've gotten very close to my goal weight and have largely been working at maintenance.
As for group classes, I always have a ton of anxiety. But getting over the hurdle of the first class is the hardest part. Do you have a friend that could take the class with you, or even just the first class or two? After a long time thinking about it, I finally tried an Orange Theory class this weekend. I might not have done it on my own, but I mentioned to a friend I was interested in trying it and she offered to try the first class with me. It made trying it a lot easier. Now if I want to go back, I have significantly less anxiety because I know how the class works, the layout of the space, where the lockers are, etc.
If no friend wants to go and you really can't bring yourself to go alone, there are tons of YouTube dance videos. Of course without the benefit of a class you won't have an instructor there to help you along, but if your motivation is just to get moving and not with perfecting the dances, you don't have to leave home.

Crank your music at home and get to shakin the behind.
My kids and I have dance parties all the time. They have no idea I look like a fool.
You don't have to workout, bur lifting weights has definitely changed my shape for the better.2 -

Dance at home...bam...workout complete and it's something you enjoy.1 -
Get an iPad, Netflix, download movies, and get on the elliptical and watch movies on your iPad while doing so. I can stay on the elliptical for two hours watching a movie and not even notice the time. 1000 calories burned just like that!0

I think differently then many who have commented. yes, you can lose weight by diet alone..but you have to be perfect. And..if you or any of us were perfect eaters...we wouldn't be here. if you want to lose weight and KEEP it off.. you have to get your head around the fact you have to exercise.4

I just go for it we’re all different in one way or another and the person who is skinny might wish he can gain weight I just learned that day we all have skeletons in our lives1

If you have not done so, try joining the YMCA. Lots of excercises to try out.
Excercise helps weight loss. It speeds up metabolism. And increases muscle mass if you fuel your body right. Excercise can boost your mood with endorphins. Start with baby steps, and increase activity level as you go. Good luck on your journey.1 -
To the OP:
(Tried to quote you but the app wouldn’t let me!)
Re: dancing
I used to be a pole fitness instructor. One of the things I miss most about teaching is seeing the transformation of my beginner students. Many would come in very self-conscience and worried over their rolls or cellulite (of which I have BOTH). Within a few weeks, after sharing laughter and time together - I would see them blossom into themselves and seeing their own beauty. Their confidence went up. It took me making a bit of an *kitten* of myself at time - and keeping them laughing. I hand to point out the obvious: we are all beginners at something. We all have our hang ups. We’re all growing.
I don’t teach anymore and I miss that, but if you request me as a friend on here- I’ll encourage whatever you choose to do and champion your efforts. I’ll make you laugh if you need it and welcome it. All I ask is that you return the favor.
For what it’s worth: I lost 60 pounds many years ago. I recently gained 20 back after an injury. I’m trying to lose those 20 and get back to swimming, dancing, and the gym.
My name is Amy and I’m happy to support you.

Lol... kitten. Uh..try: “A bit of a -synonym for a donkey-“0

I've lost 65lbs. I've walked/hiked with my dogs (because I love it) and done yoga. That's it. CICO. You can do this with just food but doing toning/muscle building exercises will help you look better naked0

100% untrue. Hating it doesn't mean you can't do it. It just means it sucks. Why do you hate it so much? And given that you know that it's unnecessary, why do you want to do it?0 -
Dancing is an excellent form of exercise. When I was in between gym memberships, I worked out at home to zumba videos on YouTube. There are tons of videos to choose from with many different intensity levels.0

I totally feel you! I used to be in the same boat so I found some of these popular exercises online and did it home. But I would stay hate that time of the day, and I would hate it when I'm exercising, and even though I saw change in my body it was so slow. Only until I started walking for long distance that I really started to lose weight and enjoy it.I would walk from 8 km to 20 km and also do treks. What I love about walking is that you really start seeing resutls quicker. Even when I would go to the gym I would only use the treadmill. Something that most skinny ppl don't realise that it is harder to exercise when you are heavier because you have to carry your body weight while doing any floor exercise. You can always start exercising once you get lighter.

if you hate doing it then dont do it.
BUT you may find, as I did, that the more you do it, the more you LIKE it.0 -
I too hate working out. I have 2 young boys so I hardly ever have time to myself to do a good workout anyway. I try to fit my exercise in by walking mainly, I'll walk to do the school runs, walk to town in the day, or even just take the boys for a walk in the evening, helps so much and I don't feel completely lazy that way.0

If you want to dance don't.let anxiety stop you, you can get therapy for social anxiety if it's stopping you from doing something you want to1
-
Being active is extremely useful for weight loss because you can eat more. It doesn't have to be exercise though, just an effort to walk more overall.
