Hi, any tips on how I can increase my daily steps Monday to Friday when working. As a social care worker my working days are spent either driving to see people, sittting in their homes doing assessments or sitting in front of a laptop writing them up! I a, shocked that some working days I only do 2,000 steps! I park a bit further away from addresses, but apart from that there really isn't any opportunity to increase my steps during the week. I work long hours as well so by the time I have finished it is dark so I can't really go out for a walk then! Ideas please

I step in place in my living room when I get home a lot times, because it's so cold out. Or you can look up leslie sansone on youtube, she has walking workouts by the mile. There's a 3mile walking workout that I like to do!

If I were in this exact situation I would invest in a treadmill. Is that an option?

I like to watch some Netflix/Hulu, so I jog in place while watching my shows instead of sitting on the couch to get more steps in :)

Leslie Sansone "walking" videos. I can do them at work (close office door) when the weather is crappy. Do them at home when it's too dark to go outside.

Me too. My family thinks I'm nuts, but I get my steps in.

I really like that walk while Netflix idea. Maybe if you had something to keep the pace, like a metronome, so it wouldn't interfere with the sound from the show you are watching.

I multitask - fold laundry while the show is one, jog in place during commercials :)

Buy a $10 end table from ikea to put on your desk, then step in place as you type.

While the show is "on". Freaking typos lol

I'm a social worker and spend my 8 hour work day at my desk doing assessments and paperwork. I walk on my breaks and take extra trips to the bathroom (the long way), also park as far as I can from the hospital I work in, i do a 30-60 minute workout when I get home and walk in place at home.i average between 10000-15000 steps a day. Oh i also Sometimes stand up at my desk and do 100 steps a coupke times throughout the day

I purchased an inexpensive treadmill desk on amazon. I had the intention of working while walking but I find it a little difficult to focus on the work and keep my balance at the same time while walking. So, I’ve changed my use of it a bit while I’m getting used to it. I started watching Downton Abbey on amazon but only when I’m walking. So, if I want to see the next episode, I have to walk. It is very easy to watch the show on my laptop when it is on the desk, and I can put my small hand weights up there so I can grab them easily and work my arms while I’m walking. I’m finding this to be very helpful and I’m hoping I will be able to actually start working while I walk once I get used to the treadmill desk and multitasking on it.

I'm also in the same profession. I don't rely on getting ny steps in at work so I invested in a treadmill which i go on for about an hour a day either listening to music or inspiring ted talks. Like the others, I walk around the house if I'm short on steps.
