Hey guys!!

My names is angie and I am from south Africa.
I joined this site because yesterday I saw a pic of a long time friend that I havent seen in a year and she looks absolutely fantatsic, she looks like a brand new, extremely happy person that is half the size she used to be.

She is definitely my inspiration.
I moved cities 2 years ago because of and have managed to pick up a disgusting 23 pounds (10 kgs where I come from) and I need to do something about it and I need to do something fast as summer is quickly approaching and I definitely do not want to feel the way that I have been feeling lately.
I live on my own and I am single so it is very difficult when I dont have the support of my friends and and family. My family live vert far away and my friends that live close by really dont care about the rubbish that they eat or that they dont do any exercise and I dont want to ever let myself fall into that trap. It has been a very testing 2 years in my life and instead of facing it head on I let it consume me, which is totally not in my character.
I have had difficulty adjusting to my new home town and being single sees you going out more often than a person should, which means loads of wine and shots and that is also a major reason for my weight gain. Although I am very active and enjoy my running and gyming, I think if I give up the socialising I would feel a million times better because there would be definite advice. I wouldnt give up my life but get rid of the people in it that dont offer any form of positive energy.
All this said, it is easier said than done and I am scared that I am not strong enough.
And I am hoping I get the support I need from this site. I really am.
I hope I can offer the support I am looking for and look forward to making new friends with similar interests.

    hi Angie

welcome - feel free to add me. I agree that socialising has its pitfalls - it's fun, but not exactly healthy, unless you can learn to do it without the excesses (such as alcohol and shots!)

I've recently - 3 weeks ago - decided to stop drinking socially because hubby and I were having at least a bottle between us each night to relax, and altho it's nice, its an energy killer not to mention the added calories.

I'm feeling so much better now and can't wait to continue on the journey. I want to loose about the same as you - so maybe we can inspire each other to get there for summer!

    cheers and good luck
