Almost 10 lbs gone so far

About 7 years ago I started my journey and 2 years into it I was down close to my goal weight but then things happened in my life and before I knew it I had lost my motivation. Before long I didn’t care how I ate and the weight started to go back on and I went from 180 lbs up to 230 lbs. I had all but given up trying to lose weight at this point and as the years went by I didn’t think I would ever be able to get back on track.

Then about a month ago, a doctors visit really helped me to see how far I had gone off track.
Being told that you’re a diabetic and that you have to go on medication is not easy, but it helped me to realize what I needed to do.
When I restarted my journey I was about 230 lbs and as of today I’m 221.2 lbs so I’ve lost so far close to 10 lbs.

I’m determined to lose this weight and reach my goal of 175 lbs and also to work towards not having to take any medication.

Great job. Just don't be disappointed if the weight loss does not eliminate the need for medication. I was diagnosed as being diabetic - AFTER losing over 150 pounds. Not what I had expected at all.

Well done, keep going. :) You have that added motivation now. It's a big kick up the *kitten* isn't it? I've done something similar - I lost 40lbs and was only 15lb off goal when I lost my mojo and put it all back on again and more. I went to the doctors last week and was told that my cholesterol levels and family history put me at increased risk of heart attack and stroke. They prescribed statins which I really don't want to have to take hence I'm back here giving it another shot.

For reference what is your age and height? I am 51yo 5'10" and my highest was 235lbs Dec 1st 2016. Currently I am around 210lbs and it has been a slow roller coaster loss for me.

Not being long winded I started back to the gym and was going almost 5 days a week in October/November and then fell off during the Holidays. I have yet to get back up on the gym horse, but have kept up with eating better and I am still slowly losing.

It's all about changing habits which is not easy, but a daily struggle sometimes. I am not diabetic, but I have had high cholesterol since I started tracking it in 2009. hopefully this year i will see improvement.

My goal would be 180lbs and it would be awesome to see 170lbs for which i doubt I have weighed since I was a teenager. We can do this!!!!!
