Have lost 13 pounds in 17 days!

Have only been eating whole wheat, fruits and veggies as my carbs as well as a high amount of protein and medium to low amount of fats. I started at 225 before Christmas and now am at 212! And I have only worked out once! Can't wait to keep up with this diet and implement working out more often mixed in. My goal weight is about 140 so I'm excited! My only thing is I eat so much lean things I sometimes get too full and have a bit of a calorie deficit, any suggestions as to what is high in calories but healthy for you?

Out of curiousity.... ..... what is your daily calorie goal?

Can you add me as a friend, would love to view your diary... I have 120 pounds to loose1

That... really does not sound likely. I didn’t achieve that rate of loss when I was 380 lb and eating less than 1000 kcal per day.
If you actually have lost that amount of weight, it’s most likely that a lot of it was water weight, so don’t be surprised if your rate of loss suddenly slows or stalls!22 -
I just lost 13lbs in 6 days..then 2lbs came back..I know that it's water weight,but ehhh it's still motivating to watch...Congrats and keep up the good work!11

How many calories are you eating a day? Your loss should become a lot less now that the initial water weight loss has ended.
As for what to add in: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10142490/a-list-of-calorie-dense-foods7 -
Wow....I know this sounds harsh, that is just way unhealthy. You should be aiming for .5 to 1 lb. loss per week.13

I really like dry roasted edemame. They are high in protein and fiber and have a decent amount of calories.4

Hi! I also lost 9lbs in about 8 days by being on a plant based diet. Is it fat I’ve lost? No definitely not, it’s probably water. Not to rain on your parade it’s a fantastic start but do not expect to keep that weight loss up. A healthy normal weight loss is 1-2lbs per week, so don’t get discouraged! Saying that,...that’s 17lbs that you’re not carrying around with you, putting pressure on your joints and weighing you down so well done. Feel free to add me as a friend!!6

It is likely, I've been eating clean and now I've been working at the gym, so the pounds have been coming off. I'm sure some of it was water weight but for anyone the first weeks you lose the most then over time it does show down, it has for me to about 2lbs a week but I'm ok with that.9 -

Aw thanks girl, yeah just remember it's normal to go up and down here and there and as long as you know you're eating healthy and working out then you're in the right direction!0 -
Thank you so much I was just about to reply that.

If the person is eating real, healthy foods, eating until they feel full, and not taking questionable diet pills then there is nothing unhealthy about the weight loss. Everyone loses weight at a different rate in different ways. It is likely that this individual has mostly lost water weight. If your body has been accustomed to eating fatty, sugary, salty foods in high quantities, when you drastically switch your diet over to lean proteins, whole grains, and lots of fruits and veggies combined with a calorie deficit, you'd be surprised how much water weight comes off!
BUT, their rate of weight loss will drastically slow down and they will find it takes more exercise and fewer calories...just more work...to lose weight going forward.

Thanks girl! I definitely have seen it drop a bit but I expected it, now I'm losing about the average of 2 lbs a week3 -
Oh wow thats so weird its been exactly 17 days for me since I started going plant-based and lost 13lbs as well. Most of it being water weight but I did start working out last week and I stalled this week, but my muscles have been sore so its probably from working out because my cals have been pretty low at around 1100-1200.
Congrats on the weight loss so far though!1 -
Yes very true!1 -

a pound of water = a pound of avocados = a pound of feathers = a pound of puppies.... A pound is a pound! I cannot stand when people say "it's just water weight!" How about Awesome! You should be proud of initiating a healthier you, and sticking to it!
Great job hopeedanielle!

Great job hopeedanielle!
I have to work hard to lose a pound of fat. I can lose a pound of water by using the restroom
Reminding people that some of that initial loss is water is encouraging balance, because the water can (and does) come back just as easily, and then people bemoan that they've "gained" 5 lbs even though they may still be enjoying good success with their fat loss.6 -

That doesn't sound right.
At 225 lbs you could probably eat more, plus exercise calories. How tall are you?

That's what the app set for me. It is right to find your typical daily calorie intake you multiply your weight times ten. And I'm not 225, I'm 210 now. I could eat more but I get full around 1400 so why eat more3 -
I started healthy eating at the start of November 2017 at 1460 calories a day I lost 14lbs in 2 months then came Christmas I didn’t over indulge as usual I stayed the same weight over the festive period I enjoyed some foods but have gone back to healthy eating & have since lost another 3lbs. I don’t stress over it anymore I just enjoy what I’m eating & if I fancy a little of something I have it & still lose weight as I’m sticking to my daily calorie intake. I don’t know what has changed within me but before when I’ve been on a diet especially these slimming club diets I was always in a rush to lose the weight & was disappointed if I didn’t lose every week, also it was on my mind all the time but now I’m taking it all in my stride & in no rush at all, I also took my measurements before I started & if you don’t see results on the scales measure yourself you’ll be amazed at how many inches you’ve lost. I don’t exercise either as I have really bad joint disease but once I’ve lost a lot more weight I will probably start to do some gentle exercise that is ok for my joints. So keep up the great work everyone we will get to were we want to be x3

is 1400 what MFP gave you to lose 2lbs a week? If you exercise then you need to eat back those calories as well.
Great job on the weight loss so far Wishing you all the best for continued loss, 2lbs per week is perfect until you get closer to goal weight then 1lb loss is enough. My only input is for you to eat more fat as well.1 -

Aw thank you, I'll have to implement some more I definitely am not trying to do rapid weight loss or anything I'm trying to do this the healthy way. And yes I agree if I do a long day or a workout day I typically do eat more but most days I stay in the 1200-1400 range1
