Stress eating-depressed

I'm definitely a stress-eater. And, lately, I've been REALLY stressed......which means I've totally fallen off my eating plan.
Would love to go walk it off, or something, but it's been BRUTALLY HOT here in Texas for weeks. Even as late as 9 p.m. it's still 95+ degrees. Ugh. Walking is my exercise of choice. I'm limited as to the types of exercise I can do because of a bad ankle(torn ligament and partially torn achilles tendon).
I just don't know how to handle the stress (TEENAGERS!). I've gained back 6 pounds this summer.
HELP!

Leslie Sansone's power walking videos are good too. I do them in my living room with a fan or two and lots of water.0

I have a friend who has a walk exercise video she really likes....you might check around and see if you can find one to use during the inclement weather periods; I know I've seen her lose weight using hers.0

Thank you for your replies. I'll definitely try the walking videos.0

If you have access to a pool, I'd try walking in the water. It would be easy on your ankle and cool you off in that crazy hot weather. Good luck!0

If exercise helps you de-stress, try checking youtube or Netflix or Hulu for free low-impact workout videos. Something like yoga or strength-building probably wouldn't strain your ankle too much. I think they even have walking / marching in place videos.
Also, something that has helped me overcome depression is making sure you keep your metabolism going at a steady pace. When you only eat a couple times a day, your metabolism may spike and then crash. And when it crashes, you get tired, cranky & depressed. I've found that if I eat a little something with protein every three hours, whether I'm hungry or not, it keeps me going on an even keel. That alone eliminates my bouts of depression and greatly reduces my stress.
Good luck!0 -
Mall-walking in air conditioned comfort?0

Hey there. I am a big time stress eater too. Always have been. I'm going along with the girls on the video for times when outside is bad.0

SWIM?!?! Got a pool by you? That should help ease the heat and you can get in a workout... I'm new to it and the first few times I had to take breaks after each length of the pool but gradually that changed, and I can now do about 25 laps without stopping....And hello muscles, I'm getting some in my arms.0

I stress eat too. Stress eating healthy food just isn't the same - I want McDonalds or something horrible. I've found that you have to FORCE yourself to stop. Stop buying junk food because you can't just have a little of it. I know I can't buy a bag of chips because I'll eat all of them, even if I tell myself I'll just have one serving. So when I go to snack and there's nothing here I get mad at myself, but am grateful later.0
