I am finding that for a simple thing like corn on the cob there are a bunch of different entries. I decided that when in doubt I would use the following link to determine the most logical number. Just passing it along as an extra tool...

Thank you for that! I sometimes struggle with which "entry" to pick on MFP. I go by what seems most logical a lot of the time. But this website is very helpful! I have already used it!
  • Very nice. Thank you!!
I always pick the higher caloric entry from here, that way i'm not lying to myself :)

I agree that variation in calories on MFP is a problem. I tend to pick the one that fits with what I think makes sense.

You also have to realize that the nutritional info can vary by region. The caloric value is not the same in the USA as it is in the UK for a lot of stuff.

Also, manufacturers change their recipes often which can change the nutritional info.

I have a tendency to just add it as a new item if the one in the system isn't the same as what I have. I have no way of knowing if the one in the system is for the UK version or not and I don't want to change someone else's information if it's right for them.

To be honest, I don't worry about it too much as long as there isn't a big difference in the numbers.

This one's pretty good too, although it doesn't have as many different foods as the MFP database.
