Hi! I recently lost 144 pounds (a bit over 10 stone) in 2017. It took me a year, but it was completely worth it! I found small steps really helped me at first. I cut out soda and started paying attention to portions and exactly what it was I was eating. Gradually I found myself leaning away from meats and eating more fruits and veggies. I still eat meat, just not as often and when I do I find I prefer chicken or lean turkey. I also enjoy more sushi and seafood now than I ever did before.

The best advice I think I've ever heard is that it's not a diet. It's a lifestyle change. That advice has helped me put things in perspective. I never want to be as heavy as I was before.

That being said, it's not a bad idea to have a meal that isn't exactly healthy once in a blue moon. I still have an occasional slice of pizza (usually veggie though to be hontest) or some frozen yogurt. I just make sure I stick to one portion to keep myself from overeating.

Another big thing is exercise. I challenged myself to complete on average 1 5K a month. You don't have to start out that crazy (I was wiped out after my first one! Napped for 2 hours). But just get yourself moving more. Set up an exercise goal for a week. Maybe 30 minutes walk 5 or 6 days a week or 1 1/2 to 2 kilometers a day for five or six days.

I hope I was helpful. Good luck on your weight loss journey!
