Music Frustration whilst Excercising

So I go to the Gym almost every day and Music is the one thing that keeps my behind moving on the Elliptical for 40 minutes a day...
I have been sitting on You Tube all afternoon searching out new music for my iPod and even when i'm listening to it, I know it's not fast enough to keep me going at a good rate on the Machine. I have this really bad habit of not being able to go faster than the beat of the song, so I can be hammering it out one minute and then have fallen back to a slower beat the next.
Not wanting to listen to alot of hard-core techno whilst working out, but does anyone have any good "Fast" music that they listen to whilst working out that keeps the heart rate up because you work out to the beat?
One of my fast work out tracks is "Shake It" by Metro Station.... not the worlds best song, but the tempo is quite fast and if you stick to the beat for the entire song, you can work up a real sweat!

Take a look at the website runhundred.com. It gives you the bpm and the opportunity to "preview" tunes before you purchase them.
Hope it helps.0 -
You could try some White Zombie, Korn, and 80's music. Works for me. Good luck!0

i don't typically listen to Techno but I have found it is really a "mover" type of song, I run and Elliptical to it often0

When I'm doing cardio I listen to a lot of old hair band metal (think AC DC, not screamo!) and oldschool type punk music that has a fast beat--The Briggs, Flatfloot 56, Time Again, Left Alone, Bad Religion type stuff (and some local Denver bands no one else has heard of lol) all get me moving--
and actually the switching between fast and slower beats is basically interval training which is supposed to give you a better workout than just "steady state" cardio...so maybe it's good to mix it up?0 -
Try www.jogtunes.com ...it lets you select your heart rate/exercise speed ..and gives you a list of songs with that beat! It also lets you choose a music genre so you can find something you will like...Its really good at keeping you going..hope it helps! good luck0

My running playlist is full of Queen, Aerosmith, and even a bit of Metalica. I also have parts of the soundtrack from Pirates of the Carribean (the Jack Sparrow theme and the Black Pearl theme). I have "I Like to Move it" from Madagascar, a couple of Crazy Frog remixes (ok, so that is a bit techno, but it's Axel F and Who Let the Frog Out), and "Tarzan Boy" (from TMNT back in the 90s). Rocky Theme and "Eye of the Tiger" are also good workout tunes.
My list is very eclectic, but these are a few that come to mind. Hope it helps!
Edit: How could I forget "How Bad do You Want It" (country -- Brad Paisly?) it really gets me going!0 -
Bump. Good suggestions...0

Here's a few I've thought of..not sure if they're quite your genre.
Untouched- The Veronicas
Louder- Charice
The Story of Us- Taylor Swift
Ladies Choice- Hairspray soundtrack (Zac Efron)
Animal- Neon Trees (kind of similar to Shake It)
Love Drunk - Boys Like Girls
it's funny, because I used to also look for fast music to work out to as well. But a lot of times (I run), I find that sometimes even slow ballads that really make me think about something or that I can relate to work out well for me. Like if I listen to a song that's vengeful or angry, I think about my ex or something and kind of use the anger/frustration that I harbor to work for me. Or I could get a really mushy song about being happy about the way things are and I think about my current boyfriend or something. Ridiculous, maybe..but it works and keeps me motivated.0 -

i looked it up and 'shake it' is 150 bpm or a 10 minute mile. i'd look for music in an 8 to 11:30 minute mile range to keep you going.0 -
It's been said before but worth repeating - AC/DC.0

That just came up on my ipod last night as I was working out - I had it on shuffle mode - it REALLY helped me pick up the pace (and I'm not talking salsa, here :-)0 -
Yep, Metro Station does it for me too....Another one is GoldDust by DJ Fresh! (although you do look a bit mental trying to keep up with this one as it's really fast haha)
I also yesterday put 150bpm into YouTube and got a heap of music that way, one great little 10 Minute, what they called "trance mix" but it was Katy Perry, Pixie Lott and a few others with a dance beat behind it that was great on the Elliptical this morning0
