I'm okay with that. I didn't like last season's drama... I liked the season before that it didn't have drama... maybe this one will be okay.

I like Biggest LOSer but I get so upset when I hear the contestants YOUNG children---you know the elementary age and middle school---heck even the high schoolers are not allowed contact with their parent. ONE month is a long time for a child to be wondering where is mom--they don't understand---why are the CHILDREN being punished---what about the TRAUMA ---don't they feel abandoned to some degree. Who made up that rule----:grumble:  :frown:

OH WOW!!! Since I'm new to the show, I didn't realize it was that drastic! You'd think that a daily phone call home would be a motivator!!! Heck, even my teen-agers would want to know what's going on and would want to check in with me & tell me the latest stuff their doing...at least I hope so! I think I'll go ask them.

Me too...and at this point, those poor guys need it the most! Do you watch the show from the network website? Do they have previous episodes, etc.?

That is my FAVORITE show! I had taped it and watched it yesterday, but while I was feeling down about weighing in and putting on a couple pounds, my 11 yr old, who also loves the show and had seen it says-"you're just not eating enough with all the exercise you do. That's what Bob says". I thought, how awesome, it's actually educating my girl, and she says her favorite part is the trainer's tips. Love it!:drinker:

I wish I knew about this when I was your daughter's age!!! Admittedly, I started having eating issues slightly later, in Jr. High. I can still remember the day I got on the scale and hit 100. I started freaking out...I actually thought I was fat....probably 5' at that time, but I actually thought I was a big tub of lard. Man...if I weighed that again, I would freak out about being too malnourished!!!! I remember restrictin g my calories to 1000 per day. THAT's INSANE!!!! What were my parents thinking by letting me do this? I know they knew I was doing this....I just wonder if they knew how SERIOUSLY freaked I was about it???

I'm a teacher, and I really think we need to get to these kids a lot younger and spend more time on teaching them about truly healthy eating and healthy exercise.....okay, I started soapboxng a little (lot)....I'll get down now. I'm so happy this show is benefitting your family!!!

I think you're right...eating healthy isn't something to many kids are taught, even less on proper foods and being sure to eat enough and taking time to move. Yea I recall hitting 100...funny how 99 seemed ok, but hitting 100 was FREAK OUT TIME!:ohwell:

  • I've tried watching it. Jillian is very very verbally abusive. I'm surprised she hasn't run someone into a heart attack yet. I cannot watch because of her blatant abuse of those people. Why would someone put themselves through that.

Ahh who knows why everyone wants to go on TV, some I do believe go on the show for the right reasons, perhaps they are at their very wits end thinking only BL can help them. Others it's to say they did, maybe many do it thinking they will get the money?

I do like Jillian though...it's a show, it's all put on, she's a tough cookie but gets results whether it's on the BL show or off...but everything is blown way up for TV...reality TV isn't so much reality anymore since there are so many similar type shows nowadays:laugh:

just my thoughts on the matter:flowerforyou: f

Cecilsmom---You know what, I totally "hear" your point.

I have this friend who said she just sort of lost control of herself. She couldn't quite get self back in line...and so she has joined some Bootcamp thing here in town. I guess it really hardcore....but it's totally kicking her butt and it's even starting to show. I'm really impressed & proud of her....and this is the contradictory party here...because I would tell you that I would NEVER sign up to do that kind of military-type program....YET, I am doing Jillian Michael's The Shred...and I totally love-hate it, as well as her!

It's like she's tough on me during the workout and reminds me how I can't give up, and I can't stop if I'm ever going to see results....and you know what? Just when I think I'm going to give up, I get right back in there and keep going. It's making a difference. I guess some people just need tough love!

Some people just need tough love to motivate themselves. I went through Army boot camp and you'd be amazed at the things people think they can't do but really can when someone is screaming in their face telling them that they can, in fact, do it.

The first day in boot camp I had to run two miles. I hadn't even ran .25 mile in my entire life and here I was running two miles on an asphalt track uphill. I tripped a quarter of the way through and skinned up my knees so bad and seriously thought I broke my leg, it hurt somethin' terrible. I was crying like a baby and one of my drill sergeants who had seen me fall ran over to me and nicely asked if I was okay. I said yes, even though I didn't think I was. Then he proceeded to scream, "well if you're okay then why are you just standing there?" dumbstruck and in pain, I started running again. And eventually went on to pass boot camp and enjoy my Army years. Had it not been for someone screaming in my face telling me to keep going, I would probably have quit.

Jillian is simply doing that, encouraging people to push themselves. Most people won't do that on their own. Personally, I thrive on a trainer that does, and so do many other people. I would pay uber money, if I could afford to do so, to have Jillian as my trainer.

I keep wondering how much longer the brown team will stay as well.

I'm glad to see Joelle go, but I feel bad for Carla because she needs to be there.

I hope Dani stays on his current diet and loses as much weight as possible. Actually the finale should be interesting.

Last season the blue team just really got on my nerves, and I'm glad Michelle was able to hang tight and win it
