My calorie suggested by my nutritionist is FAR lower than the 1200 that is suggested to generate info- I'm to get between 800 and 1000 calories. How do I use this site?

Your nutritionist is suggesting you eat a level of calories that is far below the recommended daily intake which can result in a number of health issues.

Stop seeing the nutritionist. Go see a registered dietician, who odds are good that they'll actually know more than the nutritionist. Unless you are on doctor supervision, are super old and tiny there is zero reason for you to be under 1200. If you're a guy, 1500 is the minimum.

Is there a reason they suggested so few calories (i.e. weight loss surgery)?

If you are under doctor's care and they are carefully monitoring your health on a VLCD, then you can use the program. You just won't be able to complete your diary.

People come here often and try to eat as little as possible. Those are the people the warning about eating too few calories is for.

Thank you!! but it still seems that I might not get all I need out of this program unless I go against my Dr orders. BTW My Nut is a doctor. :)

I am proceeding with your word that the person giving you your orders is a medical doctor, one with an M.D. in their title and a diploma on their wall. This site is not a program. It is a food diary, with a food database, and an exercise diary, with an exercise database. It is also a social site. While there are 80 million users and some of them are medical professionals, none of the contributors on this social site can serve as your medical adviser.

Use this link to find the nutrition values of the foods you eat. It takes some practice to use it efficiently.
Remember that meat and pasta is to be weighed uncooked.
To find the database listing, search for things 'uncooked' or 'raw'.

I wouldn't trust my doctor if he put me on a starvation diet. ..is your doctor a proper board certIfield MEDICAL doctor .

    ^This.

I know this may feel like we're picking you apart, but we're not. Very low calorie diets are not appropriate for the vast majority of people because they just don't have enough weight to lose at the rapid loss a VLCD produces. Usually reserved for people well over 300lbs, and they are CONSTANTLY monitored (think weekly) to make sure everything is okay. If you don't have that much to lose, even if it's 100lbs it would still be very concerning that a medical doctor would suggest you be on such a restricted diet. People are just trying to get a better idea of what your situation is.

I had weight loss surgery, so until recently, I was eating under 1,000 calories/day. You can still use this site to track your food and monitor your macros. It will just give you a warning at the end of the day, and it won't give you the "If you eat like this every day, you'll weigh x in two weeks" message. Other than that, it's no different.
