Hey all - I am going to be in my last year of getting my masters degree in counseling - I have been in the program for 2 years, and have rapidly gained weight because of the lack of exercise, eating out, and paper writing lol...
I am working on my final proposal thesis for this fall and doing my internship - just looking for others in the same boat as me!
Thanks!
Lizzy

I'm in my second year of graduate school at an engineering school. I also have 3 children. I get up at 5am to work out, and I just ate a 300 calorie fast food lunch. It can be done!0

I'm in the home stretch of my MA and teaching credential! Can't wait to be done.0

HI- I'm in my first year of grad school for my MPH while working full time and a research assistant. I know where you're coming from! You can add me for support and motivation!0

I am in my 4th year of a Ph.D. program, and can certainly identify with the sedentary lifestyle... I don't know where you're doing your grad work, but one thing I've found to be helpful about being a grad student is being able to reap the benefits of the university I'm at. They have a fantastic gym, a variety of fitness classes, a huge pool... all free to students!0

I'm in my second year of my masters in Athletic Administration. I also am the assistant basketball coach at the same university as well as work at a gym. It gets hard doing those 5am workouts when.... well life happens.0

Hey I'm in my 2nd year of grad school. I'm working on getting my MPA and losing weight at the same time!!!0

second year of dual MBA/MS-Sport Management program...0

Yeah. I thought about the 5am workout, but I work at 6:30am, so not sure how much of a workout I would get, and we do have a university gym here, but we have to pay, which I do but it doesn't open until 5:30am...
Hoping this year will be better for me so I can be more active!0 -
I did it 4 years ago in my program it was tough, but do-able
Fairbanks??? wow, that ads to your problem too I think, I know I got the winter munchies when I was in Anchorage so I can only imagine Fairbanks...sorry that's not helping you
On the bright side, I did snow shoe walking and cross country skii-ing- fun and burned calories, I recommend trying that0 -
I am in my first year of Nurse Practitioner school. I have been able to lose weight and stay active, but it is hard. Good luck with everything!0

I'm in the final stretch of my MSc program as well as working part time, and I'm definitely finding a hard time balancing between time spent working on my thesis and time spent working out. When I'm active, I feel guilty for not writing, and when I'm writing, I feel guilty for not exercising.0

rob - you are so right, I do eat more during the winter - it is tough here in Fairbanks when it is like 50 - 60 below! Good call, I need to make sure I take extra care to watch out for that!
Mandy - That is the way I feel - that I should be writing instead of working out, but then feel bad for not working out lol...it is a balancing act. I guess more planning on my part..0 -
I'm starting my second year in my master's program for sociology and a women's studies certificate.0

I'm getting my master's in teaching (pk-6). Exercising/eating healthily hasn't been a challenge, but it probably will get harder once I begin student teaching in January!0

Hi there! I'm in my last year grad school...actually graduating this December! I too have let all those hours of studying and worrying about my patient's health come before my own. I'm fairly new to this and have actually found it easier than I thought, so it is possible! Feel free to add me for support!0

I am in my second year of grad school working on a Masters in Education for a reading specialist. I have two children, teach full time during the day (well during the school year) and have been taking classes two to three nights a week for the past year. This fall I will still be teaching full time during the day and taking one online class and two night classes. I am so thankful that my hubby is super supportive of my decision to go back to school, he has been great dealing with out children while I'm at class.
The weightloss goals and healthy eating definitely go to the wayside once class is in session, but I have learned to bring a healthy snack along and eat dinner at home afterwards (even though it is late). I always pack my lunch during the day so I stick to healthy options there as well. My down fall is the lack of time to exercise, I already feel guilty for spending all my time at work during the day, class at night, and working on papers and homework during my "free" time, limiting the time I spend with my kids, that I have a hard time devoting any time at all to exercise. It is my goal this year to at least get 30 minutes in 5 days a week, even if I have to get up super early to get it done - we'll see how it goes! Feel free to add me - maybe we can support each other through the next semester!0 -

1 year until finishing my masters degree in social work/ mental health. With my internship credits I'm doing 15 this fall 1 week off and then another 15 in the spring.
Totally know how you are feeling! I'm hoping I can get on a tight schedule and get to school early and use their gym in the mornings until class on mondays and then the gym 5 minutes from my house on tues/thurs/ and saturdays.
The hardest part for me is the making healthy choices I can keep on me for meals while on a crazy schedule.0
